WhatsApp to Stop Working on BlackBerry 10 OS, Windows Phone 8.0 on December 31

WhatsApp won't work on BlackBerry 10, Windows Phone 8.0 come year-end

There appear to be no extensions of previous announcements

WhatsApp will stop working on Nokia S40 on December 31, 2018
WhatsApp's farewell note for 2017 is not good news for some smartphone users. WhatsApp will stop working on devices running BlackBerry OS, BlackBerry 10, and Windows Phone 8.0 and older from December 31, 2017. The WhatsApp blog post with end-of-life dates clearly mentions that users of BlackBerry OS, BlackBerry 10, and Windows Phone 8.0 and older operating systems will not be able to use the app after December 31, 2017 - less than a week from now.
To recall, WhatsApp had extended support for both platforms in June this year. At the time, WhatsApp had also revealed that the app will stop working for phones running Nokia S40 will be stopped from December 31, 2018. The app will stop working on phones running Android 2.3.7 and older (Gingerbread) will be stopped from February 1, 2020. The messaging app became unavailable on Nokia phones running Symbian S60, from June 30, 2017.

Ending support for Blackberry and Windows Phone has seen no further extensions and will come into place on the mentioned date. If your phone has any of the two specified operating systems, you should consider upgrading to a newer phone in order to access WhatsApp properly. WhatsApp updates for other OS versions like Windows Phone 7, Android 2.1, Android 2.2, and iOS 6 were stopped in 2016.
WhatsApp, earlier this month, officially took covers off its new standalone app for businesses, which features both verified and non-verified profiles. This gives businesses a formal route to conduct business on the messaging app.

Virat Kohli, Anushka Sharma Mumbai Reception: All You Need To Know

Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma are hosting a second reception in Mumbai on Tuesday, which will be attended by members of the Indian cricket and Bollywood personalities.

Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma's wedding captured the imagination of the entire country. The star couple got married in a private ceremony on December 11 in Tuscany, Italy and officially announced the news on their respective social media accounts, ending days of suspense and fevered speculation in the media. The duo hosted their first reception in New Delhi on December 21 with Prime Minister Narendra Modi also in attendance. But the celebrations are far from over. Virat and Anushka will host a second reception in Mumbai on Tuesday with many Bollywood celebrities and cricketers expected to make their presence felt.

Bollywood director Kunal Kohli had shared a picture of the invite on his Twitter handle.
Virushka's Mumbai reception invite has a special environment-friendly message.
Virat and Anushka's reception invite has plant sapling attached to it. Presumably, the star couple want their guests to plant a tree.
Virushka's Mumbai reception will take place at the St. Regis in Lower Parel. The wedding reception is scheduled to begin from 8.30 pm IST.
According to The St. Regis, Mumbai official website they claim to be the country's tallest hotel tower and boast of 395 guest rooms including 27 suites and 39 residential suites.
Astor Ballroom will be the setting for Virushka's Mumbai reception and according to the hotel it is located on Level 9. The pillar-less Astor Ballroom can accommodate up to 300 guests.

Meanwhile, Virat and Anushka had decided to go with a traditional look for their Delhi reception.
With a neatly-tied bun encircled in a mogra gajra, Anushka wore a traditional red and gold saree designed by Sabyasachi with a heavy palla and jadau jewellery; chuda and sindoor in place.
Virat appeared dapper in a black achkan and white churidaar and heavily embroidered shawl with golden border in black mojris.
Virat helped Anushka onto the stage as they posed for the shutterbugs as fans flanked the streets for the two. Interestingly, the decor of the alfresco stage matched with the trousseau and sherwani they wore on their D-Day in Italy.
The reception ceremony was high on security and strictly for family and dignitaries in the city, with around a dozen of Delhi Police personnel in plain clothes guarding and a similar security arrangement is also expected in Mumbai.

Salman Khan’s Tiger Zinda Hai earned over Rs 45 crore at the box office on Sunday, taking its weekend earning to Rs 114.93 crore and toppling a few records in the process.
The year 2017 has been hard on the film trade. Big films bombed, star vehicles came cropper and it was left to middle-of-the-road cinema to bring in the money. However, in a year where Baahubali 2 went galloping over the Rs 1000 crore mark and more, others could barely make their way to the Rs 200 crore club.

In this scenario comes Salman Khan’s Christmas release Tiger Zinda Hai. The film has not only broken records of 2017, it has also trampled some of Khan’s previous ones. The film, according to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, has been sensational. “#TigerZindaHai is SENSATIONAL on Day 3... East-West-North-South, the biz witnesses REMARKABLE growth... Metros and beyond metros, plexes and single screens - it’s creating HAVOC... Fri 34.10 cr, Sat 35.30 cr, Sun 45.53 cr. Total: ₹ 114.93 cr. India biz. #TZH,” he wrote.

It also broke numerous records, set by Khan himself, “Salman versus Salman - first 3 days...
#BajrangiBhaijaan ₹ 102.60 cr [Fri-Sun] #Sultan ₹ 105.53 cr [released on Wed; Wed-Fri] #Tubelight ₹ 64.77 cr [Fri-Sun] #TigerZindaHai ₹ 114.93 cr [Fri-Sun] #TZH India biz.”

Tiger Zinda Hai is also the second film of Khan to land in Rs 300 crore club. “#TigerZindaHai #TZH is Salman Khan’s 12th film to cross ₹ 100 cr mark... The HIGHEST by any actor…Highest grosser: #BajrangiBhaijaan [₹ 320.34 cr] Two films in ₹ 300 cr Club: #BajrangiBhaijaan [₹ 320.34 cr] and #Sultan [₹ 300.45 cr] India biz,” Adarsh tweeted.

The film also starring Katrina Kaif made over Rs 45 crore on Sunday, a single-day record for a Hindi film. The weekend total of Rs 114.93 crore is also one of the biggest debuts ever seen for a Hindi film. Before this, Khan’s Sultan earned Rs 105 crore in three days. The 2016 film, which released on Eid and was also directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, went on to earn Rs 180 crore at the box office in the five-day weekend.

Earlier, trade analyst Taran Adarsh had tweeted, “#TigerZindaHai emerges BOXOFFICE CHAMPION... Shows TERRIFIC trending on Day 2… All set to cross ₹ 100 cr today [Day 3]… Fri 34.10 cr [updated], Sat 35.30 cr. Total: ₹ 69.40 cr. India biz... Biz will be HUGE today and tomorrow [Christmas].”

Not only the domestic market, Tiger Zinda Hai is doing well in international market as well. Quoting rentrak numbers, Adarsh tweeted, “#TigerZindaHai is SUPER-STRONG in North America [USA + Canada]… USA: Fri $ 443,868 Sat $ 522,292 Total: $ 966,160 CANADA: Fri $ 95,852 Sat $ 123,900 Total: $ 219,752 NORTH AMERICA total: $ 1,185,912 [₹ 7.59 cr] @Rentrak.”

While its box office figures are impressive, Tiger Zinda Hai is chasing tough targets. Made at an approximate budget of Rs 150 crore, the film must earn Rs 300 crore to post a profit.

GST collection: With 24% share in cess, Maharashtra, UP top list

Karnataka is 3rd with cess collection of `3,110 cr, followed by Chhattisgarh

Comprising about 24 per cent of the total cess collections of Rs 30,224 crore under the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh are the top contributors among states and Union Territories in the first five months of the rollout of the GST regime.

Maharashtra garnered Rs 3,702 crore and Uttar Pradesh collected Rs 3,549 crore through cess levied on sin and luxury goods since the July 1 rollout of the new indirect tax regime, Minister of State for Finance Shiv Pratap Shukla said in reply to a question in Lok Sabha on Friday. The individual contribution of these two states is even higher than the cess collected through imports, which stands at Rs 2,604 crore.

Karnataka ranks third with cess collection of Rs 3,110 crore, followed by Chhattisgarh that raised Rs 2,288 crore as cess till November 30, the data provided by the government showed.

Maharashtra also has the highest State GST (SGST) collections of Rs 18,701 crore during July-November, the data showed. Tamil Nadu is at the second spot, having collected Rs 8,739 crore, about half of the SGST amount raised by Maharashtra.

The two manufacturing states are closely followed by Karnataka and Gujarat with SGST collections of Rs 7,736 crore and Rs 7,375 crore, respectively.

The government has garnered Rs 30,224 crore as cess from July 1-November 30, the data showed. About Rs 59,048 crore has been collected as Central GST (CGST) and Rs 87,888 crore has been collected as SGST in the first five months of the GST regime.

An amount of Rs 1.91 lakh crore has been collected as Integrated GST (IGST) till November 30. Out of the total IGST collection of Rs 1.91 lakh crore, Rs 90,038 crore has been collected through imports. The high unutilised IGST will be set off by GST taxpayers against their tax liabilities of IGST,CGST and SGST, in that order, in the coming months and is likely to result in lower collections via CGST and SGST payments, as was seen in October revenue collections.

The GST regime, which was implemented from July 1, has tax slabs of 0, 5, 12, 18 and 28 per cent. Additional cess ranging from 1 to 290 per cent is levied over and above the highest tax rate of 28 per cent on sin

and luxury goods such as tobacco, cigarettes and luxury cars. The amount collected through cess flows into compensation fund, which is used to compensate states for revenue losses on account of implementation of GST.
As per Section 7 of the Goods and Services Tax (Compensation to States) Act, 2017, states and Union Territories with
legislatures have to be compensated for revenue losses arising out of implementation of GST during the five-year transition period beginning from the date on which the SGST Act of the concerned state has come into force.
The GST (Compensation to the States for Loss of Revenue) Act has projected the revenue growth for states during the five-year transition period to be 14 per cent and the financial year of 2015-16 has been fixed as the base year for calculation of compensation amount, with the base year tax revenue including states’ tax revenues from state VAT, Central sales tax, entry tax, octroi, local body tax, taxes on luxuries, taxes on advertisements.
However, any revenue among these taxes related to supply of alcohol for human consumption, entertainment tax levied by the states but collected by local bodies and petroleum products not part of GST will be excluded from the base year revenue.
As per the data provided by government in Lok Sabha, 93.33 lakh taxpayers have registered under the new GST regime till October 31. Out of total 93.33 lakh registrants, 64.38 lakh taxpayers migrated from the earlier excise and VAT system, while 28.94 lakh are new registrants in the GST regime.
