Teen's Suicide Linked To Blue Whale; 75 More Playing, Suspect Tamil Nadu Police

(Click Here To latest aaps news join our Whatsapp)

Madurai: After a 19-year-old college student was found hanging in his room in by his father in Tamil Nadu's first death linked to the 'Blue Whale' challenge, the police suspect the teen was part of a WhatsApp group of 75 friends who are playing the suicide game. "Blue Whale - This is not a game but danger. Once you enter, you can never exit," Vignesh wrote in a chilling note found in his home in Madurai yesterday.

The police also found the telling image of a whale carved into Vignesh's left arm with "Blue Whale" written below it.

Madurai police officer Manivannan told NDTV that anyone suspecting a Blue Whale victim should contact the police at WhatsApp number 77088 06111. Just two days ago, Chennai had put out a detailed alert for parents on how to tackle the problem.

Vignesh's friends never realized his long hours on the phone or desktop could be linked to the game.

The son of daily wagers, Vignesh was a second year commerce student at a private college. He was depressed and had been spending a lot of time alone in the last 45-50 days, his brother has revealed.

'Blue Whale' has been blamed for at least three more suicides this month, in Mumbai, Uttar Pradesh and Kerala.

Since the game originated in Russia in 2013, some 100 deaths across the world have been linked to it.

The game draws in people, mostly children and teenagers, through online chat rooms. The curator usually sniffs out vulnerable candidates and switches to a private chat mode where the player has to take up 50 macabre dares. These include cutting oneself, isolating oneself from friends, listening to disturbing songs, spending time in graveyards, watching horror movies and finally, jumping off a building. For the last dare, the player is given a choice - kill yourself or watch someone close die.

The government and the police have tried to check the spread of the game but it is difficult to track as there is no site or app. They have urged social networking sites to act.

The creator, 22-year-old Philipp Budeikin, was sent to jail for three years recently. He had said in an interview that he was "eliminating people who do not represent any value, cause harm or will cause harm to the society".

Mumbai rains: How office goers, stranded at their workplaces for the night, reached home

( Click Here To latest aaps news join our facebook gruop )

Just before the first light of dawn at 4:30 am, office goers, thanks to the torrential rains, stranded at their workplaces - which got converted into makeshift dormitories for the night - made their way to the Churchgate station in south Mumbai to reach home.

Shortly after the suburban train services resumed after the rain fury, Churchgate and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) witnessed scenes resembling any evening when offices shut for the day and commuters flock to return home.

People started trickling out on the streets and made their way to the two primary train terminuses -- CSMT on Central Railway and Churchgate on the Western Railway.
After the heavy downpour subsided overnight, commuters were seen crowding these stations, in expectation of taking a train back home and resting peacefully on a day virtually declared as an unofficial holiday by the state administration.

The place of work turned into a place of stay or a dormitory for the office goers and almost all the offices, especially those of state-run institutions that dominate the south Mumbai area, hosted employees for the night.

HOW MUMBAIKARS SPENT NIGHT AWAY FROM HOME :-

Discussions about the night spent away from home, the adjustments which had to be made and the odd body ache were common as people descended on railway stations in the commercial district.
With no information on easing of rail traffic forthcoming, there was anxiety on what fate awaited for them. It transpired to be a mixed bag. While the Western Railway services were up, albeit in a limited manner, it was status quo on Central Railways both Main Line and Harbour Line till 7.26 am when the first train chugged out for Kalyan from CSMT.

Predictably, there was disappointment and a few irate women passengers entered the station master's office in the heritage Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus.

"People are trying to enter the station master's offices at various stations including CSMT, asking for services to resume at the earliest. We have deployed additional forces where necessary," a Government Railway Police official said.
A few hundred people had to be pushed back and the station manager's office had to be cordoned off.

LIFT SOUGHT FROM EVERY PASSING VEHICLE:-
Outside, in the Nagar Chowk precinct, every passing vehicle was being waived at and asked for a lift.
"I have been stuck at office since last evening and now have to pay extra to get back home to Thane," said a 40-something woman who works for a state-run bank and paid a hefty Rs 200 per seat for the 35-km journey till neighbouring Thane.

However, not everybody was as lucky as her and the crowds kept swelling. Some blamed the lack of coordination between the railways and BEST undertaking which runs local public transport buses. "If CR knew that services cannot be resumed by morning, why did not they deploy additional buses as the rains have stopped and roads were clear?" asked an irate insurance employee.
In what seemed like an ad-hoc arrangement, BEST deployed a few buses to ply from CSMT to suburban Ghatkopar, through the Eastern Freeway, with priority to ferry women.
For some, it was a long haul with train services being stuck near Ghatkopar but for the lucky ones, the wish to return home was unfulfilled as another challenging day

( Click Here To latest aaps news join our facebook gruop )

Samsung Electronics Co Ltd expects to invest $7 billion over the next three years to expand its NAND memory chip production in China's northwestern city of Xi'an, the South Korean tech giant said on Monday.

Samsung Electronics Co Ltd aapkasamachar to invest $7 billion over the next three years to expand its NAND memory chip production in China’s northwestern city of Xi’an, the South Korean tech giant said on Monday. In a regulatory filing Samsung said it approved $2.3 billion of the expected investment of $7 billion on Monday.

In early July, when Samsung announced an investment of $18.6 billion in South Korea, it said it would add a production line at its NAND plant in Xi’an, but did not set an investment amount. A Samsung Electronics spokesman declined to comment on the amount of capacity to be added by the approved or planned investment.

The firm accounted for 38.3 percent of global NAND flash memory chip revenue in April-June, the latest data from researcher IHS showed. China is trying to develop its own memory chip producers but it is likely to be several years before they can compete with existing makers, analysts said.

Samsung Electronics said a memory chip boom that propelled it to record profit in the second quarter was likely to continue in the July-to-September quarter.

Rohtak, Haryana: Self-styled spiritual guru Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for the rape of two women followers. The 50-year-old chief of the Dera Sacha Sauda sect wept as he was sentenced at a jail in Haryana's Rohtak by Judge Jagdeep Singh, who flew down by government helicopter to conduct a prison-side court hearing. Thousands of soldiers are guarding the prison and the army is on stand by. No civilians are being allowed within 10 km of the prison. Over a lakh of Ram Rahim's followers had gathered in Panchkula, where he was convicted on Friday, and they erupted in violence that left 38 people dead and over 200 injured.

1.
Ram Rahim's lawyers, who today pleaded for a lighter sentence in view of his philanthrophic work, have said they will appeal in a higher court. The CBI, which had sought a life sentence has said it will push for more punishment; sources in the agency said they have already moved an application for a longer prison term.
2.
The Dera chief will be sent for a medical examination and then will be given a prison uniform and will be allotted a jail cell. Since Friday, when he was flown from Panchkula to Rohtak in a luxury helicopter, Ram Rahim occupied a special cell and was given bottled water and was allowed an assistant, amid massive criticism.
3.
Thousands of paramilitary troops and anti-riot police have blocked off all roads in the area. Military sources said the Army can enter Rohtak in about an hour if needed. Barbed-wire barriers have been erected and residents have been warned to stay indoors in Rohtak. All schools and colleges in Haryana were closed today.

Large gatherings are banned in the city.  Mobile internet services remain suspended. Senior members of Ram Rahim's Dera Sacha Sauda sect were placed under detention as a precautionary measure.
5.
The Rohtak police has warned that it may shoot at any sign of trouble. "We have made multi-layered arrangements so that nobody is able to reach the venue (prison) or enter Rohtak district itself," police deputy inspector general Navdeep Singh Virk told NDTV. "I am fully confident everything will go on peacefully and there will be no untoward incident."
6.
Over 1,50,000 members of Ram Rahim's Dera Sacha Sauda had gathered in Panchkula in a show of support before Friday's verdict. Violent protests followed across his power base in the Haryana, with police deploying tear gas and water cannons, with little impact. It was clear the authorities grossly underestimated the risk posed by the army of Ram Rahim's devotees.
7.
Over the weekend, more than 100 branches of the sect have been sanitised and sealed across Haryana. Petrol cans and sticks were found stockpiled. The police in Sirsa, where his 1,000- acre main base is located, have been urging about 30,000 devotees to emerge from the campus.
8.
A few thousand were persuaded to leave for their homes across the state in buses and those efforts will continue today, said top government officials to Aapkasamachar.com.denying reports that they will forcefully enter the campus to evacuate devotees.
9.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi warned yesterday that  "Violence is not acceptable in the nation, in any form." But his party, the BJP, which governs Haryana, has come under heavy fire for failing to prevent the outbreak of violence and allowing the 50-year-old guru to travel in a luxury chopper to jail.
10.
Followers of the flamboyant Ram Rahim, who is known as the "guru in bling" because of his penchant for bejeweled costumes and customised superbikes, continue to insist upon his innocence. "Our father can never do any sin," said devotee Trilok Insaan at a shop in Sirsa, adorned with posters of a heavily-bearded Ram Rahim.

Why Reliance JioPhone is actually a threat to smartphones

(click here to letest apps news join our  Whatsapp  Group )

Reliance Jio will begin taking pre-bookings for its much-anticipated JioPhone later today. The pre-booking for the 4G feature phone starts 5:30 pm at the company’s own retail stores, website and the Jio App. Customers need to pay Rs 500 booking amount.

Reliance Jio will begin taking pre-bookings for its much-anticipated JioPhone later today. The pre-booking for the 4G feature phone starts 5:30 pm at the company’s own retail stores, website and the Jio App. Customers need to pay Rs 500 booking amount and the balance Rs 1000 at the time of delivery sometime in the first week of September.

JioPhone has been an ambitious project for the Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio, and the company is targeting over 100 million units to be shipped in the first year. JioPhone is an inexpensive, more advanced version of a regular feature phone with a built-in 4G VoLTE support for the masses. It will “effectively” cost Rs 0, as users are required only to pay Rs 1,500 security deposit, which can be refunded after three years.

“JioPhone will arrest the decline of feature phone segment and eventually accelerate upgrades within the feature phone segment. This will impact the sales of sub $50 smartphone segment which is now contributing to almost 3 per cent of smartphone shipments in 1H 2017,” said Shobhit Srivastava, Research Analyst, Mobile Devices and Ecosystem at Counterpoint Research.

The analyst expects Reliance Jio to ship 15 million units of the JioPhone this year as the demand for the feature phone is estimated to be high in India. Its low price may appeal to a large section of the population, mostly using feature phones with limited access to internet. “We expect more than 15 million JioPhones to be shipped within 2017 as the demand for the low cost 4G enabled device is very high,” Srivastava told aapkasamachar. Com.

JioPhone has been dubbed as “India ka smartphone” and will let users to browse the web, attending video calls, and watch movies on the go. Feature phones are generally limited to calling and SMS. The phone also supports popular social media apps like Facebook, but not the popular WhatsApp messenger. The monthly plan on the JioPhone has been set at Rs 153, which offers 500MB of data per day for 28 day validity. Reliance Jio will be offering a weekly plan for Rs 54 and a two-day plan for Rs 24 for unlimited data access.

(Click Here to For More Latest jio News)
The launch of the JioPhone has surely made ripples in the telecom sector and rivals are expected to counter with their own devices and plans soon. The analyst said the JioPhone’s low price tag and attractive features could prompt other domestic players to launch 4G LTE-enabled feature phones. However, it may not seem as easy as it appears for domestic handset makers to sell a fully loaded phone with 4G LTE at such a low price.

Domestic handsets makers will surely launch LTE feature phones to counter Jio offering but that is going to be an uphill task for them as Bill of Material (BOM) cost doesn’t allow them to compete with Jio at this point unless subsidised. To bring the cost down they might tie up with other operators going forward and bundle the data with 4G feature phones. Alternatively, they can be an EMS to the operators launching their LTE feature phones”, Srivastava said.
