Samsung Galaxy S9 design and benchmark leaks give closest look at the phone yet

Galaxy S9 will come in three variants, including a mini version but with same design and dual cameras

Samsung is preparing its next generation of flagships for launch in 2018, and looks like we already have some photos and numbers to match it up with the rivals.
As reported earlier, Samsung is readying three different models of the Galaxy S9 this time-the Galaxy S9, the Galaxy S9+ and the Galaxy S9 Mini. Latest leaks spotted by Forbes reveal that the mini variant will have a 5-inch display, while the other two will be similar to their 2017 counterparts.
All three models will come with Samsung dual-edge-curved 'Infinity' display, unlike previous mini models styled differently than flagship variants. This could make Samsung's foothold stronger in the mid-range segment.

The leak also claims the Galaxy S9 will come with dual cameras with a BABR coating ('broad-band anti-reflection') on the lenses. DSLR lenses use BABR coating to limit ghosting and reflection. The company might also reposition the fingerprint scanner on the device.
A report from AndroidHeadlines also reveals that the phone will use heat pipes for dissipating heat, a setup that has been used on Galaxy S-series and Note series since the 2016.

The phone model SM-G960F, believed to be the global version of the upcoming Galaxy S9, has been spotted on a Geekbench listing as well. The phone scores 2680 points in the single core test which far exceeds that of the Pixel 2 (1685 points). But the iPhone X (4218 points) still remains that king, and so do the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus as they are powered by the same A11 Bionic chip from Apple.
The Geekbench listing also reveals that the phone will be powered by Samsung next generation chipset, the Exynos 9 series 9810 with 4GB RAM. Samsung recently announced Exynos 9810 chipset that is built on 2nd generation 10nm process. It also packs 3rd-generation custom CPU cores and an upgraded GPU, possibly Mali G72. It also supports Gigabit speeds on LTE (something that the new iPhones don't, as they miss out on the required antennas!)

Samsung may also launch variants of Galaxy S9 with Snapdragon 845. A recent report confirmed that Qualcomm will sell the entire first batch of Snapdragon 845 to Samsung for its Galaxy S9 and S9+ smartphones. Like last year, Galaxy phones will be the first to run the top end chip.
The listing also mentions that the phone will run Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. The Pixels and only a couple of other smartphone run the Android 8.0 Oreo right now as many new phones were launched with the Android 7 Nougat with a promise of an upgrade, OnePlus 5T being the most popular example.
Samsung may announce the Galaxy S9 and S9+ at the upcoming MWC like last year -- which is to start on February 26 and continue until March 1 2018 in Barcelona. Samsung is reportedly planning to schedule the Galaxy S9 and S9+ launch event for February 25.

Padmavati Release Delayed? Censor Board Hasn't Seen Film Yet, Say Sources

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's upcoming film Padmavati that has run into trouble with Rajput Karni Sena and other fringe groups could get delayed beyond December 1 when it was scheduled to be released.

Sources said the movie is unlikely to get a censor board certificate by December 1 as the screening committee of the Censor Board of Film Certification, commonly called the censor board, had not seen the movie yet.

The film was submitted for the censor board's approval only last Friday.

According to existing norms, the censor board can take 61 days for a decision on the film certification. Sources suggested it may be difficult for the producers to stick to their 1 December schedule if the board strictly abides by the norms.

Padmavati is based on the legend of Rani Padmini of Chittor and critics, mostly Rajput groups, say the film wrongly implies a romantic relationship between the queen and Emperor Alauddin Khilji.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali has repeatedly denied the allegations and recently released a video clarifying that his film does not distort history.

There has, however, been no end to the protests against the film across several states including Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Karnataka.

One of the more aggressive groups opposing the film, Karni Sena, had also called a country-side bandh on December 1.

Children's Day is celebratedacross India on November 14, the birth date of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, who was very fond of children. Children fondly call him Chacha NehruMr Nehru, under the guidance of Mahatma Gandhi, turned out to be a leader of India's struggle for independence. For laying the foundation of independent India as sovereign, socialist, secular and a democratic republic, he is credited as the architect of modern India.

He was a prolific writer in English and wrote a number of books. His speech on the eve of India's Independence, towards midnight on 15 August 1947, is considered to be one of the greatest speeches of the 20th century.

Here's a look at the books Jawaharlal Nehru has authored:

1. The Discovery of IndiaJawaharlal Nehru wrote this book while he was in jail for his participation in the Quit India movement. He wrote the book during 1942-46 and dedicated it to the prisoners who provided him a stimulating environment to pen down his thoughts and experiences of living in the country he loves.

The book is a mix of personal essays and reflections and provides a broad view of Indian history, philosophy and culture, as viewed from his eyes. The book is seen as one of the finest writings on Indian history.

2. Glimpses of World History This book is a collection of 196 letters that Jawaharlal Nehru wrote to his daughter Indira when he was in various prisons in British India between 1930-1933.

The letters were meant to introduce her to world history. In the first few letters, Mr Nehru expresses his sadness for not being able to be around his daughter and give her the materialistic gifts that other parents could, but he promises to give her a gift that he could afford; in the form of knowledge and wisdom through words that come from the core of his heart.

The book contains the history of humankind from 6000 BC to the time of writing of the book. He talks about the histories of every significant place ranging from Greece in the far West to China in the east. The book talks about the wars that were fought during these years and the greatest revolutions that overthrew established dynasties. He has also written about the legendary leaders and kings like Alexander the Great and Mahatma Gandhi.

3. An Autobiography, also called Towards Freedom: This book is an autobiography written by Jawaharlal Nehru during his time in the prison. In the book, he mentions about why he took the path of civil disobedience and ended up being in the prison.

The book begins with anecdotes of how his ancestors had to flee Kashmir. He writes about how his life history, from even before his father was born, seems to have led him naturally to where he was. The book depicts the political realisation of an upcoming giant of a nation and the battle for its freedom.

The book was published in 1936 and ran nine editions in the first year alone.

4. Letters From A Father To His Daughter: This book was published in 1929 and has a collection of 30 letters written by Jawaharlal Nehru in 1928 to his daughter Indira Gandhi when she was 10 years old. In the letters, written in English, he is teaching her about natural history and the story of civilisations. At the time of the writing of the letters, Mr Nehru was in Allahabad, while Indira was in Mussoorie.

Ready to screen Padmavati to quell doubts after censor board clears it: Makers

Makers of Padmavati, Viacom18 Motion Pictures, added that claims that it distorts history were untrue and that they were open to screening it to clear doubts. The film was submitted to the CBFC last week for certification, the makers added.

Makers of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati on Monday said they were ready to screen the film for those who had doubts about its content once the film was passed by the censor board.

Ajit Andhare, Chief Operating Officer, Viacom18 Motion Pictures, said the claims that film was a distortion of history were not true and they were open to screening the film after it was cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

We are first looking at the censor board (for clearance) and then we don’t have a problem (to show the film) because they are imagining something different and we would like to quell all these doubts first. But ideally we want to get the certificate first,” Andhare said.

He said the filmmakers had received some representations.

“We do not have a problem (in screening the film) please realise this is unprecedented, this is not how it is supposed to be done. What they (certain sections of people) are saying is not in the film, we do not have anything to hide,” he added.

He said they did not want the film to get stuck in any further controversy and were waiting to hear from the CBFC.

“We are going to this length as we want to quell the controversy; it is a needless controversy. The film doesn’t need it. The film has its own merit and we just want that the censor board gives us a screening date so that we can take it ahead. The ball is in the censor’s court,” he said.

The film was submitted to the CBFC last week.

“Bhansali Production applied online last Friday. We are waiting to hear from the board for the screening. That is our first priority.

“I am not foreseeing any problem. No film in the history of censor board has got delayed, I have no reason to believe the film will be delayed. We have nothing to worry (about),” he said.

Padmavati is scheduled to be released on December 1
