Teen gangrape survivor kills self after more rape threats in Uttar Pradesh's Baghpat

Police initially suspected that the girl killed herself over a domestic fight but later arrested five men in connection with the case.

A 15-year-old girl committed suicide after the men who allegedly gangraped her threatened her with rape again. The incident took place in Baghpat district of western Uttar Pradesh. Initially, police suspected that the girl killed herself over a domestic fight but later arrested five men in connection with the case.
Baghpat Superintendent of Police (SP) Jai Prakash has suspended the Ramala police station in-charge for alleged negligence in the case and a departmental probe has been initiated against him.
Accused Sonu, Monu, Rohit, Sagar and Pappu have been arrested and a case has been registered against them. The court has remanded all the five accused in police custody.
The 15-year-old victim's mother said that her daughter was a Class 8 student in the village school. The alleged incident of gangrape took place nearly four months ago. According to the girl's mother, the teenager had gone to a nearby shop to buy groceries but did not return home.
Tha family approached the police and filed a complaint against five village youth for kidnapping the girl. The girl's mother alleged that despite a formal complaint, police did not investigate the case. According to the mother, the accused dumped the girl outside the Ramala police station five days after she went missing.
On gaining consciousness, the girl alleged that five youngsters kidnapped her and took her to a room where they gangraped her. The girl's family registered a complaint with the police. The family alleged that police did not investigate the case and gave the accused a clean chit in their final report.
On Friday, the girl went to the nearby shop to buy a few things when the accused allegedly threatened her with rape. The girl rushed home and told her family about the rape threats but before they could approach the police, she committed suicide.
On their part, police said that the girl was not raped and therefore the five accused were given a clean chit. The girl's family, however, claimed that the girl's medical examination report confirmed raped. The girl's statement was also recorded in the case.
The girl's last rites were performed amid heavy police security on Saturday. SP Jai Prakash said that police will again investigate the rape case.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi To Address Mega Rally In Gujarat Today: 10 Points

AhmedabadPrime Minister Narendra Modi will address around seven lakh BJP workers today in his home state Gujarat, where assembly elections will be held by the end of this year. On the eve of his visit to Gandhinagar, the Prime Minster tweeted, "I bow to the people of Gujarat for blessing BJP for decades. We will always fulfil the dreams of every Gujarati with full strength & vigour". The BJP, which has been in power in the state for two decades, hopes to win a record fifth time. Party chief Amit Shah has set it a target of winning 150 of Gujarat's 182 Assembly seats.

1.The 'Gujarat Gaurav Mahasammelan' marks the conclusion of the party's 'GujaratGaurav Yatra' (March for Honour), launched on October

2.In a series of tweets, PM Modi said the 'Gujarat Gaurav Mahasammelan' will be attended by "lakhs of BJP karyakartas" from across the state. The public meeting, he wrote, comes after the "successful culmination of the 2 Gujarat Gaurav Yatras", which covered almost 4,500 km and 149 of the state's 182 assembly seats.
3.The yatras, he tweeted, had "showcased the spirit of Jan Shakti & reflected Gujarat's strong faith in politics of development & good governance".

4.Today's function at Bhat village near state capital Gandhinagar will be attended by Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, BJP chief Amit Shah and many other leaders of the party.

5.The Election Commission is yet to announce the schedule for the assembly polls in Gujarat. The tenure of the Gujarat assembly is till January 22.

6.The Congress has alleged that the BJP plans to announce a number of "sops" at the mega rally.  The party also said this is why the BJP pressured the Election Commission into delaying the announcement of dates for the election - a charge the poll body has denied. The announcement of election dates triggers the model code of conduct, under which announcement of schemes that may influence voters is banned.

7.The Prime Minister has made multiple visits to Gujarat ahead of the elections. Last week, on a two-day visit, he inaugurated various projects in Rajkot, his hometown Vadnagar, Gandhinagar and Bharuch.
8.The BJP has been in power in Gujarat since 1995. The party had won 115 seats in the 2012 assembly elections. Mr Modi became the Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2001 and held the post till he entered the national arena as the BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate ahead of the 2014 General Elections.

9.After him, Anandiben Patel became the Chief Minister of Gujarat. But she stepped down after the massive agitation by the Patel community for reservation in jobs and education amid speculation over fallout with Amit Shah. She has been succeeded by Vijay Rupani.

10.The Congress, which is hoping to recapture power in the state, has been plagued by turbulence over the last few months. In July, state party chief Shankersinh Vaghela walked out after weeks of dallying. Soon after, supposedly at his behest, six Congress legislators resigned, three of them joined the BJP.  Since last month party chief Rahul Gandhi had paid several visits to the state to lead the party's campaign.

Three-year-old girl raped by juvenile in northeast Delhi, say police

Police said the girl’s mother had reported the matter to police following which a case was registered on Thursday. The accused person helps his father run a grocery store in the locality.

A three-year-old was allegedly assaulted by a juvenile in northeast Delhi’s Karawal Nagar, police said. Confirming the incident, Deputy Commissioner of Police (southeast) A K Singla said the “minor accused has been apprehended and sent to a juvenile home”.

Police said the girl’s mother had reported the matter to police following which a case was registered on Thursday. The accused person helps his father run a grocery store in the locality. On the day of the incident, the girl’s father had left for work while her mother was taking a bath. “The woman told us that her daughter was playing outside the house. When she came out, she found her daughter was missing,” the officer said.

Police said the mother, along with some locals, were looking for the girl when they reportedly heard cries from the grocery store. “They got inside the store and found the girl crying. The accused tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended. The girl was in a lot of pain. She told her mother that she was lured by the accused to the shop,” the officer said.

Police then roped in a counsellor from a local NGO and conducted a medical examination of the girl.
When the minor was questioned, he told police that he had lured the girl on the pretext of offering snacks at his shop and then attempted to rape her. “The boy’s father had told us that he was away and the shop was being run by the boy. The boy has confessed to his involvement in the case,” the officer added.
In another incident, a seven-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by her father’s colleague in Nand Nagri area. The incident was reported to police by the girl’s family at Nand Nagri police station. “The girl studies in a government school,” a police officer said.
The accused, who fled to Meerut, was arrested on Wednesday, police said. The child’s mother told police that she had asked her daughter to go to a local store to collect money from the shopkeeper. When the girl reached the spot, the accused spotted her and lured her to an abandoned spot and allegedly sexually assaulted her.

What is the Aarushi Talwar murder case?

(Click Here To Latest News Join Whatsapp Group)

Aarushi Talwar murder case: Here is everything you need to know about the twin murders and the subsequent investigation.

On the morning of May 16, 2008, soon-to-turn 14-year-old Aarushi Talwar was found dead in the bedroom of her house in Jalvayu Vihar, Noida. Her throat was slit and her head bludgeoned. The family’s live-in domestic help Hemraj Banjade was seen as the prime suspect in the murder, but, a day later, Hemraj (45) was found dead on the terrace of the same flat. His throat was also slit and he had suffered injuries to his head. There were wounds all over his body and the door to the terrace was found locked from inside.

Noida Police suspected the twin murders to be an insider job and said that they had been committed with ‘surgical precision’. Talwars’ former domestic help Vishnu Sharma was initially named as a suspect in the case. Soon, Delhi Police also joined the probe. Follow LIVE UPDATES on Allahabad High Court’s verdict in the Aarushi, Hemraj murder case

Six days after Aarushi’s body was found, police suspected it to be a case of honour killing and her parents, Rajesh Talwar and Nupur Talwar, both dentists, came under the scanner. Noida Police alleged that Rajesh had committed the twin murders after finding Aarushi and Hemraj in an “objectionable” position. However, no forensic or material evidence was provided to substantiate the claim.

On May 23, 2008 Rajesh Talwar was arrested for the double murder. As the case became a topic of household debate with divided public opinion on who killed Aarushi, the case was handed over to the CBI.

On June 13, CBI arrested Krishna Thadaraj, an assistant at Rajesh’s Noida clinic. On June 20, CBI conducted a lie detector test on Rajesh Talwar. Five days later, a second lie detector test was also conducted on Aarushi’s mother, Nupur Talwar, as the first one was found to be inconclusive. After spending almost two months in jail, Rajesh Talwar got bail on July 12.

As the investigation continued, narco-analysis tests were conducted on the Talwars. In December 2010, CBI submitted a closure report on the grounds of “insufficient evidence”. Giving a clean chit to the servants, CBI named Rajesh Talwar as the prime suspect. However, due to lack of evidence, CBI did not charge him. The court said the case could not be closed.

On November 25, 2013, CBI judge Shyam Lal convicted the Talwars guilty of both murders and destruction of evidence. “The parents are the best protector of their own children and that is the order of the human nature, but they have been freaks in the history of mankind when the father and mother became the killer of their own progeny,” the judge wrote.

“They have extirpated their own daughter who has seen 14 summers of her life and the servant, without compunction from terrestrial terrain in breach of commandment that ‘thou shall not kill’ and the injunction of the holy Quran ‘take not life, which god has made sacred’.”

The CBI court awarded life imprisonment to the Talwar couple a day later. The couple then filed an appeal in the Allahabad High Court challenging the previous court’s order. A division bench of the high court, comprising justices B K Narayana and A K Mishra, reserved its judgement on September 7, fixing October 12, 2017 as the date for the verdict. Nupur and Rajesh Talwar are at present serving their sentence in Ghaziabad’s Dasna jail.

Amitabh Bachchan at 75: Exploring his enduring popularity and why he remains India’s biggest superstar

One advantage Amitabh Bachchan, or Big B, has had over others is that he’s forever with the times. For years, he has embodied the classic Indian hero, inventing and reinventing, branding and un-branding himself miraculously as and when the need has presented itself.

At 75, when most stars are not even stars anymore and are relegated, in all likelihood, to lead a quiet retired life waiting for a timely revival, a second act, a comeback or a Lifetime Achievement renaissance, Amitabh
Bachchan has no need for any of that. Think about it. This is a man, who at the very least, four generations of Indians are intimately familiar with and never, save for a brief interlude in the late 1980s and 1990s when his films flopped and ABCL went bust turning him from a human god into running gag, has Bachchan been out of the public eye. Except for the first three odd years of his career when he delivered one stinker after another, Bachchan has not known what’s it’s like to be down and out.

It’s hard to think that this very star who defined heroism and what it meant to be a classic Bollywood hero and spawned a generation of copycats (most famous being Rajinikanth who carved his Southern identity out of Big B remakes) was once dismissed as “too unconventional” to make the cut. Those were the days of pink-cheeked heartthrobdom of Rajesh Khanna. But, apparently, when Khanna saw Namak Haraam co-starring the two at a trial at Liberty cinema, he tersely announced, “Here is the superstar of tomorrow.” Hrishikesh Mukherjee – a common link between Khanna and Bachchan, between superstar of the present and superstar of the future – was witness to the scene.

Although Hrishikesh Mukherjee gave poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan’s son a Bengali Bhadralok makeover in Anand and appropriately cast him as a sensitive Bard types it was Prakesh Mehra and Salim-Javed who spotted the anger in the upcoming star’s eyes. 1973’s Zanjeer changed Bachchan’s fortunes. It displaced the hill station romanticism of the 1960s with cynicism and rage, perhaps mirroring the darker political mood intrinsic to the Seventies.

Bachchan became the one man who could don a pristine white Bengali kurta and pass off as a singer, professor and depressed alcoholic (Abhimaan, Chupke Chupke and Mili respectively) and at the same time, anchor Salim-Javed’s anti-Establishment figure into a universally acceptable celluloid anti-hero with daddy issues who, surprisingly, the audience cared – even, rooted – for.

One advantage Bachchan has had over others is that he’s forever with the times. In the 1970s, he was quick to give voice to the political gloom and social issues like rising unemployment and rich-poor divide. He knew his cinema was watched by Hindus, Sikhs, Muslims and Christians and he played and respected all faiths. For Muslims, he offered sops like the lucky-charm 786 badge and the Hajj song/qawwali, for Hindus he sang bhajans, for the sake of Christians he grew up in a Church and for Sikhs (his mother Teji was a Sikh) he donned the turban to save the nation. In his excitement, he even played Bobby Deol’s turbaned grandfather in one film (remember Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Sathiyo?), a task that could so easily have been left to the devices of someone like Dharmendra, Bollywood’s resident Punjabi. For those not inclined towards God, he also played a non-believer, refusing to enter a temple in Deewaar.
Now, the Vijay of Deewaar, in dotage, is free of all excesses and expectations. He freely experiments with his looks and roles. If he’s the constipated Bengali male of Piku (2015) on one side, he’s also the lawyer of Pink (2016) of “No means no” fame on another. Incidentally, even advertising has contributed to boosting the Bachchan myth. He appears in just as many ad films as he regularly does in feature films made by those very ad filmmakers! He’s a win-win for filmmakers. For, as a star, he appeals to audiences of all ages. A 75-year-old grandfather can watch Zanjeer, Anand or Deewaar and enjoy the masterful storytelling and relate to the seething anger of those Bachchan-starrers, his 45-year-old daughter-in-law can be sitting in another room and watching a rerun of Kaun Banega Crorepati and maybe, the youngest member of that family could be glued to her phone laughing along on the escapades of the wry man-child Auro in Paa.

For years, Bachchan has embodied the classic Indian hero. He has reinvented himself tirelessly and miraculously as and when the need has presented itself. Now, in the role of a benign grandfather, both off and on screen, Amitabh Bachchan continues to occupy the first seat in Bollywood winners’ circle. At a time when stardom is so fleeting and Friday-to-Friday, Big B remains the ultimate evergreen who refuses to slow down. That’s the reason why even though he has announced that he won’t be ringing in his 75th birthday today, who can stop the thousands of crazy fans who throng his Juhu home every year from celebrating it? The party is outside Jalsa and everyone’s invited.

Man stabs wife for not fasting, then kills self

NEW DELHI: A 32-year-old man allegedly stabbed his estranged wife and then jumped to his death from her home in Rohini, northwest Delhi, on Sunday, after an argument sparked by the woman not keeping a fast on Karva Chauth.

The violence unfolded in the presence of the couple's four-year-old daughter.

The woman is being treated in hospital, while doctors declared the man, identified as Jaswinder Singh, 'brought dead'.

The couple had recently separated and filed for divorce.Police said Singh had been living away from his wife and daughter for the past month or so. He had gone to the woman's house to meet his daughter, which the court had allowed on weekends.

Police said since two of his wife's siblings were also in the house, Singh had asked his wife to accompany him to the terrace as he wanted to "discuss something". The daughter followed them to the terrace. The discussion, however, turned ugly as the woman started crying out for help and ran downstairs with stab wounds.

As the neighbours rushed to help her, Singh jumped off the fourth floor, his head smashing against the ground. Seeing this, the woman rushed down and collapsed beside his body, police said.

A neighbour called the police at 12.30am after he saw Singh fall on a car and then onto the road in F block of Rohini's sector 16. A police team found him lying in a pool of blood and his estranged wife, unconscious with stab wounds, next to him. A case was registered at the K N Katju police station, said Rishi Pal, DCP (Rohini).

After regaining her senses, she told the cops that she had married Singh five years ago. However, the marriage had run into turbulence of late which prompted the couple to part ways. She said that this was the first time since her wedding that she had not fasted on Karva Chauth and Singh was upset very upset about it.

However, police said that they were verifying her claims and are trying to ascertain the sequence of events.Singh worked as a private sale-purchase agent and had been living with his parents for the last one month. His parents told the cops that Singh missed his daughter very much.

They were yet to come to terms with the tragedy and felt Singh could not have taken such a drastic step.
