Eyes on property, girl plotted father's murder with FB friend

(Click Here To latest aaps news join our Whatsapp)

MEERUT: Three days after a man was found murdered in his sleep at the Mohiuddinpur area, 10 km from the city, Meerut police on Monday zeroed in on his 23-year-old daughter as the primary accused, who had connived with a friend on Facebook to murder her father with an aim to secure share in the family property.

According to police sources, the woman, identified only as Shikha, got her friend Himanshu Siwach, who she had met on the social media platform, to plan the crime. Siwach, along with two other unidentified men, shot the girl's father Manoj Kumar, 43, in his sleep on Friday morning.

Police had initially booked two of Kumar's cousins due to an ongoing enmity between them. Kumar's uncle was gunned down following a property dispute in Bulandshahr district three years ago.

"Due to a personal dispute between the brothers, our first suspects were Kumar's cousins," said Brijesh Singh, station house officer (SHO), Partapur police station.

Further investigations and phone surveillance records later revealed that Shikha had asked Siwach to eliminate her father.

"The deceased man's daughter wanted a share in the family property and got Siwach to commit the crime," said superintendent of police (SP), city, Maan Singh Chauhan.

Police also informed that Shikha, a B Com student, showed no emotion during the probe. "It was alleged that Kumar had an illicit relationship with his sister-in-law and his daughter was against it," informed SP Chauhan.

According to family sources, Kumar had three children with his sister-in-law and Shikha was against sharing a 400 bigha land with them.

"Father used to ignore my mother and he had an affair with my aunt. I could not tolerate this. I have no regrets," said Shikha, with a stoic expression on her face.

Reliance Jio turns one: From a disruptive 4G telco to a network leader in one year

(Click Here To latest aaps news join our Whatsapp)

Itmay have been a slow, long year for the telecom industry in India, but Reliance Jio, the latest entrant, will be able to claim the contrary: that in a very short span of time, it has travelled very far. Jio came, disrupted the market and now a  year later, it still continues to do so with the recent launch of the JioPhone, a 4G feature phone for the masses.

(Click Here To For More App News)

Reliance Jio's journey started off back in December of 2015. Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani at the Jio introduction event broke the news that the company's Jio 4G network was finally up and running and that lucky employees (numbering over one-lakh plus) were the first customers to take India's first 4G all IP network for a test drive.

From speeds never seen before, to crystal clear voice calls, Jio employees got a taste of India's first truly 4G LTE network. Soon enough, Jio's confidence began to grow, with families of these employees on-boarded on to the beta-testing program. The company wanted to test out its network to fix possible glitches before a wider public roll out.

Later in January 2016, Reliance Jio began the roll out of its Wi-Fi service. The high-speed Wi-Fi services called Jionet. The service was launched by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on the occasion of Jio Amaravati Marathon. Back then, Jio's claims were pretty high. According to a PTI report, Reliance claimed that Jio 4G will deliver 10 times higher download speed and 4 times better upload speed compared to others.

Incumbent telcos began to feel the pinch of Jio's presence in the space, especially when Jio signed up with Reliance Communications to increase its spectrum footprint.

Come March 2016, Jio's affordable and budget LYF branded 4G smartphones began to enter the market in preparation for the launch of its 4G services. Back then, the launch was expected to take place in the second half of 2016.

Sadly, the mid-year launch did not take place. Around May of 2016, Reliance announced a Jio referral program. The program allowed beta users to invite 10 friends to experience Jio services. However, there was a catch. While the referral program allowed plenty more users to access the Jio bouquet of services (JioPlay, JioBeats, JioMags, JioNews and so on), news users had to purchase a LYF smartphone to jump on to the same. Getting an invite was a big deal indeed, with invites sent being valid only for 15 days.

A month later, Jio.com went live with the Jio bouquet of apps (MyJio, JioChat, JioPlay, JioOnDemand, JioBeats, JioMags, JioXpressNews, JioDrive, JioJoin, JioMoney and JioSecurity) becoming available on both the App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android). The services, however, were only accessible by the lucky few who had managed to get on the Jio network through the referral program.

With  and more users vying for a Jio connection, existing operators began to feel the pinch. Vodafone, for example, began slashing its data rates, followed by others in anticipation for the Jio launch.
Reliance soon began opening up the Jio Preview Offer to other devices with 4G bands as well. Beginning with Samsung and LG smartphones, Jio soon hauled in a long list of manufacturers to support its LTE network.

On 1 September, Jio's real journey began with Mukesh Ambani announcing free voice calling, zero roaming charges cheaper tariffs for existing Jio customers. Also announced at the AGM was the Jio Welcome Offer, that offered new customers free data services for four months.

But as with every new disruptive launch, with disruptive tariffs, comes problems with interconnectivity. Ambani made things crystal clear at the AGM, that there were about 5 crore call failures suffered by Jio customers because of interconnectivity issues with existing networks.

On 16 September 2016 Reliance Jio slammed incumbent operators Bharti Airtel, Idea Cellular and Vodafone for allegedly refusing to help their mobile phone users port or switch to the new operator. In a letter to TRAI Chairman R S Sharma, Reliance Jio said Bharti Airtel Ltd, Idea Cellular Ltd and Vodafone India Ltd were perpetrating "illegal and perverse actions" by refusing to enable the porting of mobile number connections.

TRAI Chairman RS Sharma claimed that call failure rates were unacceptable. He added that telecom operators need to comply with regulations on points of interconnects (PoIs). While telcos argued that Jio’s introductory offer was predatory, the TRAI Chairman said there was no reason for the TRAI to intervene in the matter as Jio’s offer prices were under forbearance.
On 22 October, 2016 Jio won its case against the incumbent operators. The Indian telecom regulator slapped heavy penalties on the three telecom players — Bharti Airtel, Vodafone India and Idea Cellular — for not providing sufficient points of interconnections (PoI) to Reliance Jio. TRAI suggested imposing Rs 3,050 crores penalty on Bharti Airtel, Vodafone, and Idea for allegedly denying interconnectivity to newcomer Reliance Jio.
Come December 2016 Jio announced that it had extended its free, data, video and Wi-Fi services for three more months. ‘Jio Happy New Year Offer (“JNO”)’offers subscribers certain special benefits in data, voice, video and the full bouquet of Jio applications and content — all of these services would now be free till 31 March, 2017. At the same time, Ambani also claimed that the company has acquired over 50 million customers in just about three months.

A month later thanks to the new offers, Jio managed to acquire a total of 72.4 million subscribers as of December 2016.
The free services offered by Jio did not go unnoticed by competitors. TRAI, however, gave Jio a clean chit stating that the free promotional offer could not go beyond the stipulated 90 days.

On 21 February, Mukesh Ambani launched Jio Prime service for the 100 million existing subscribers. All the current Reliance Jio members and the people who would enroll between 1 and 31 March 2017 would be eligible to get the benefits of Jio Prime Membership. For the first time,  the prices for the plans were out with memberships starting from as low as Rs 99 for the first year for existing members who had to pay a flat fee of Rs 303 per month to avail the benefits of the Happy New Year Offer.
With the new plans out, Airtel and Vodafone introduced new plans to retain customers.
Move to March of 2017 and Idea and Vodafone joined hands in a $23 billion deal to stay afloat. The telecom giants would spend about Rs 13,400 crore to integrate their services.
With 72 million paid customers, Reliance Jio decided to extend its Jio Prime offer until 15 April. Along with the extension of the Jio Prime membership offer to 15 April, Ambani also announced a 'Jio Summer Surprise Offer'. This would entitle a Jio Prime subscriber to three months of complimentary services after their first recharge.

Soon enough telecom regulator TRAI recommended Jio to stop its Jio Summer Surprise offer. With that on hold Reliance then put up its Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan offer.
Things were looking up for Jio moving forward with a TRAI report pointing out that the telco had the fastest 4G download speeds in March 2017. Average download speed on Reliance Jio network was 16.48 megabit per second (Mbps) in March against 8.33 Mbps on Idea Cellular's and 7.66 Mbps on Bharti Airtel's network, the monthly report by Trai showed.
As of April 2017, Jio reached a paid subscriber base of 108.9 million users. Reliance Industries revealed plans to spend a further $2.8 bn on its Jio telecom business in the current quarter, taking its investment in the venture to more than $30 bn.

More recently in June, a survey by London-based wireless coverage mapping company OpenSignal revealed that the Jio launch alone attracted 100 million subscribers in the first six months. The move was enough for India to reach the 15th spot in 4G availability worldwide, which is a big deal. Open Signal report stated, “The Jio-inspired 4G revolution in India has sent that country rocketing up our availability charts.” hinting how Jio’s widespread availability and affordable pricing has made adoption easier.
In the recent highlights released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) in July, its latest telecom subscription report for the month of May, Reliance Jio turned out be the fastest growing service provider, showing a growth rate of 4.25 percent. Reliance Jio came out on top with a massive 117.34 million with Bharti Airtel at 53.30 million subscribers and Vodafone at 40.43 million subscribers in second and third place respectively.
The July Reliance Industries Limited AGM, saw the announcement of Jio's latest wonder, the JioPhone. The much-rumoured, much talked about, and much-awaited JioPhone "effectively costs Rs zero" as buyers will be able to get the device for a one-time refundable security deposit of Rs 1,500. It is Jio's most affordable, yet practical offering yet, bringing 4G to the masses at the lowest cost possible.
On 24 August 2017, pre-bookings for the JioPhone began. Two days later, the Jio.com website hinted that millions of JioPhones had been booked, with some claiming the number to be around 6 million. Pre-booking were halted for the Linux-powered 4G feature phone.
While it may have been a bumpy ride for Jio and the other telecom operators, it seems that in the end, it was the consumer that benefitted the most out of Jio's disruptive pricing. Like it or hate it, Jio is indeed here to stay and seems to have made plenty of headway in just a single year of its existence.

There’s still some confusion over the name of the next-generation iPhone, which is likely to be announced next week in California. According to a report from Dutch site iCulture, Apple’s next iPhone will be called iPhone X and not the iPhone 8. The report cites a “reliable source” who works for a global telecom company. The same source previously predicted about the arrival of the 10.5-inch iPad Pro.

The report claims the final name of the bezel-less iPhone will be the iPhone X, pronounced ‘iPhone 10’, This will be the special edition model in celebration of the tenth-anniversary of the first iPhone which went on sale in 2007. The source went on to report that the other two iPhones will end up calling the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, previously known as the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus.

The iPhone X will be the premium most model in the company’s updated iPhone lineup, which also includes the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. The high-end smartphone will be the first iPhone to feature an edge-to-edge display, with slim bezels. The device may not feature the traditional TouchID fingerprint scanner and instead features a new facial recognition technology.

It is also being claimed that the iPhone is likely to support wireless charging at the reduced rate, and the design will be completely different from the company’s previous generation smartphones. Not just the design will be tweaked, iPhone X will cost more than the iPhone 7 Plus. Rumor has it that the base model of the iPhone X will cost upwards of $999 (or approx Rs 64,020) and goes up to $1400 (or approx Rs 89, 710) for the top-end model. According to the above report, Apple iPhone pre-orders will begin on September 15, and actual deliveries will start on September 22.

At the moment, it’s not clear whether the premium model will be called the iPhone X or the iPhone Edition. Apple has already scheduled an event on September 12 which will be taking place at the Steve Jobs Theater in the company’s Apple New Park campus.

Airtel's Latest Recharge Plans To Counter Jio: Rs 399, Rs 349 And Other Plans

(Click Here To latest aaps news join our Whatsapp)

Bharti Airtel, India's biggest telecom operator, has introduced several new recharge packs for prepaid mobile subscribers ranging from Rs 8 to Rs 399 in recent days. Telecom operators, including Airtel, have been coming up with new aggressive plans to counter Jio, which has amassed over 12 crore subscribers in a short period of time. Jio brought a pricing revolution in the telecom industry through its ultra-low cost data and free voice call offerings. The launch of JioPhone, a 4G feature phone from Jio, could lead to further price war and may prompt other operators to come up with low-cost handsets, say analysts.

Here is a glance of Airtel's prepaid plans:

Airtel 399 plan: This plan offers 1 GB data per day at 4G speed along with unlimited local and STD calls. This plan is targeted to counter Jio's Rs 399 plan which also offers unlimited local and STD calls along with 1 GB data per day for 84 days. However, the Rs 399 recharge plan of Airtel is being offered to select prepaid customers. Before recharge, you need to first check with the customer care, whether the plan is available on your number.

Airtel 349 plan: Airtel is offering unlimited local and STD calls plus 28 GB data (1GB/day) for 28 days under this plan.

Airtel 149 plan: This plan of Airtel offers unlimited Airtel to Airtel calls plus 2GB data at 4G speed with 28 days validity

(A snapshot of all prepaid plans offered by Reliance Jio)

Here are some other plans of Airtel:

Rs. 8 plan: Local+STD mobile calls 30piase/minute for 56 days
Rs. 40 plan: Rs. 35 talk time with unlimited validity.
Rs. 60 plan: Rs. 58 talk time with unlimited validity.
Rs. 5 plan: 4GB 3G/4G data for 7 days. Offer valid only after 4G SIM upgradation and for one-time recharge only.
Rs. 199 plan: Unlimited local mobile calls plus 1GB 2G/3G/4G data for 28 days.
Rs. 349 plan offer: 10% cashback on recharge of Rs349 by opening Airtel Payments Bank account.

Airtel's profit and margins have dwindled in recent quarters after Jio commenced its services in last September. In the April-June quarter this year, Airtel reported 75 per cent decline in its net profit at Rs 367 crore compared to Rs 1,462 crore in the year-ago quarter. Analysts say this competitive environment is likely to persist in the telecom industry in the future as the new entrant Jio is likely to maintain aggressive pricing to gain market share.

Jio Phone bookings at 6 million, Reliance Jio to start deliveries during Navratri

(Click Here To latest aaps news join our Whatsapp)

Jio Phone bookings touched hit 6 million within three days of its pre-booking that started on 24 August, and Reliance Jio will start delivering the phones from 21 September.

New Delhi: Around six million units of Reliance Jio’s ‘effectively free’ 4G handset, the Jio Phone, were booked within three days of its pre-booking that started on 24 August, says a channel partner of Reliance Retail.

The delivery of the Jio Phone is being planned to start during the Navratri festival beginning 21 September, the partner said. “The pre-booking of JioPhone was put on hold after six million units were booked within first three days. We have been told by the company that the deliveries of JioPhone will start during Navratri,” the channel partner, who asked not to be named, told PTI.

E-mails sent to Reliance Jio and Reliance Retail did not elicit any response. Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani, in his previous annual general meeting speech, had said the company plans to sell five million JioPhones every week. The pre-booking of JioPhones started on 24 August against payment of a refundable deposit of Rs500 and the remainder Rs1,000 has to be paid by the customer when the company starts delivering them in September.

Ambani had announced that the total amount will be refunded after 36 months, when the customer returns the phone. According to the industry source, nearly 10 million people have shown interest in JioPhone. According to CyberMedia Research, a total of 61.8 million mobiles were shipped in the second quarter of 2017. With six million units of sale, JioPhone is estimated to account for around 10% of India’s total mobile phone market in a quarter.

Ambani had announced that voice calling for customers of JioPhone would always be free and they would get unlimited data for a month against a payment of Rs153. JioPhone, which can be operated by speaking out instructions to dial, type messages and the like, will come with pre-loaded Jio apps for messaging and entertainment.

The phone can be connected with television sets for watching live TV, using the Jio TV app. The phone will also include some of the popular instant messaging and social networking apps.

In a slew of interesting revelations today on Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim, one of the fellow inmates at the Rohtak's Sunaria Jail, Dalit leader Swadesh Kirad said that the moment sentence was announced, he fell to his knees and wailed, "Hang me, I don't want to live anymore."
Lodged in the Sunaria Jail for the past nine months, Dalit leader Kirad stepped out today on bail and speaking to media, spilled some beans on the Dera chief's countenance inside the prison.
He added that everyday since Friday, August 25, the day of his first sentence and the subsequent imprisonment, Gurmeet could be heard talking to himself, "God, what wrong habe I done? What is my fault?" (Rabba, mera kya kasoor hai?)

Kirad said that on the night of August 25, Gurmeet did not eat anything but sat on the floor and cried all night, imploring his destiny.

"He didn't eat anything. Just had water from Bisleri bottle, later some milk, tea and biscuits," the Dalit leader added.
Speaking on Gurmeet Ram Rahim's dwellings in the prison, Kirad said that he was not given any special treatment but was kept in a separate space due to imminent threat to his life.
"Prisoners are very angry with Ram Rahim for the violence that was instigated in his name in Punjab, Haryana and parts of other states after his verdict," the Dalit leader explained.
He can be attacked, Kirad reiterated, over the issue of growing resentment against the Dera chief in the prison.
Gurmeet Ram Rahim has been given two quilts like all the other inmates and no special arrangements have been made for his 'stay' in the Sunaria Jail .
Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim has been sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for raping two minors 15 years ago. Ram Rahim has been handed two sentences of ten years each for the two counts of rape.
Special CBI judge Jagdeep Singh said the two sentences of 10 years each will run consecutively, and not concurrently
