Idea Rivals Jio With New Rs. 398 Plan With 1GB Data Per Day, Free Roaming Calls for 70 Days

Idea’s Rs. 398 plan originally offered 35-day validityThe data benefit has been doubled with this revisionBuyers will also get seven vouchers of Rs. 51 with this pack

Idea has revised its Rs. 398 plan to offer twice the validity while keeping the calling and data benefits, seemingly only for select users.
This comes just a day after it introduced the Rs. 309 plan with 28-day validity, and two days after it debuted the Rs. 509 prepaid recharge pack
The Idea Rs. 398 plan now offers 70-day validity, instead of the previous 35 days. This plan competes with Reliance Jio Rs. 399 plan, which offers the same calling and data benefits as well as the same validity.

Idea subscribers need to check the official app to see if the plan is available to them with extended validity as the official website still mentions 35-day validity, meaning this is a personalised plan which might be available to select consumers only. Buyers will get 1GB data per day for 70 days, meaning 70GB of total data, with this prepaid pack. It provides users with bundled voice STD and local calls and 100 SMSes per day as well.
However, the original Rs. 398 plan came with free outgoing calls on roaming. The free roaming calls are not mentioned in the MyIdea app, but Gadgets 360 spoke to an Idea customer care executive who confirmed that the plan will offer free incoming and outgoing calls in all circles.

The free calls, as is the norm nowadays, are limited to 250 minutes per day and 1,000 minutes per week; exhausting this limit will entail tariff of 1 paisa per second. Also, users are not allowed to call more than 100 unique numbers in a week; in this case, the calls will be charged at 1 paisa per second.
Those who purchase the recharge pack will get seven vouchers of Rs. 51 each, which can be used while buying recharges of Rs. 300 or more over the next one year.
As mentioned above, this is the toughest challenge yet from Idea against the Rs. 399 Jio plan, which provides 1GB data per day as well as free calls and SMSes for 70 days, along with access to Jio apps.

Rajinikanth turns 67: From being a ‘Sruthi Betham’ to becoming a Superstar

To Kollywood of yore, everything that made Rajinikanth who he is was probably sruthi betham: his stylised gestures, the pace at which he spoke, his throaty laughter.

In Carnatic music, Sruthi Betham is when the singer misses pitch. Ironically, Rajinikanth’s first ever frame called him a Sruthi Betham. Pushing off a creaky gate, his entry into the glitzy, glamourous world of cinema wasn’t the brisk strut that is now immortal. He slowly walks inside and asks with a tinge of uncertainty, “Bhairavi veedu idhu dhane?” to Kamal Haasan. To Kollywood back then, everything that made Rajini who he is, was probably sruthi betham: his stylised gestures, the pace at which he spoke, his throaty laughter. As opposed to the more manicured Kamal Haasan, Rajini’s unconventional and raw style made him relevant to masses. And a new villain was born.
It almost seems like a paradox that Rajinikanth started out with negative roles (several of them show him as a womaniser) when you look at the squeaky clean characters he is expected to play now. Rajini was quite the ‘bad boy’ of the 70s with some stellar performances in Avargal, Moondru Mudichu, and Aval Appadithan. The years ‘77, ‘78 and ’79 were especially extremely busy as he is said to have starred in more than 30 films.
After a brief break, the Superstar made a stellar return with Billa, probably one of the biggest hits from the Amitabh Bachchan films that Rajini remade. That brings us to a surprising pattern in the Superstar’s career. Rajinikanth has been someone who has always understood the pan-Indian appeal of our stories, irrespective of the language they are made in. He understood the importance of bringing stories from other languages to Tamil.

And mind you he didn’t just bring it, his remakes has his own brand strongly imprinted on them. Billa, Mr Bharath, Muthu, Thee, Panakaran, Annamalai, Mannan, Chandramukhi are some of the memorable titles. The success was phenomenal. So much so that the success of Muthu was mentioned by the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in his address to the Japanese delegation. In an ‘99 article, American magazine Newsweek had said, “Rajinikanth, the male lead in “Muthu” and “Yajaman,” has supplanted Leonardo DiCaprio as Japan’s trendiest heartthrob.”
Rajinikanth was also a victim of stardom, probably the biggest victim as well. As stars do, he was trapped in the expectations of the audience. His films had to satisfy his fans. Gone was the unassuming actor ‘Rajini’ from Thappu Thalangal, Aarilirunthu Aruvathuvarai and so many other beautiful films from his previous phases started. The star ‘Rajini’ took over. Not that I minded seeing the star on screen, nobody does it better. I still remember watching Padayappa, mesmerised by his screen presence. A dialogue from the same movie describes Rajini’s screen presence the best; Ramya Krishna looking at Rajini says “Vayasanalum un style um azhagum inum unna vitu pogala”. In his trademark pace, Rajini says “Kudave poranthathu enikum pogathu”. The dialogue stands good even today, with his latest venture Kabali. After a tired Linga, it was refreshing to see the Superstar play his age and yet be the stylish star that he is known to be. Despite being the macho man, I loved the vulnerability Kabali had, something that reminded me of his Aboorva Ragangal days.
Which is why I am excited about 2.0 and Kaala, his upcoming projects. We won’t just see Thalaivar on screen again, we will see him as the artiste we loved. Rajini might be modest enough to say that ‘Superstar’ tag was just a “padhavi” (position) — “Like Commissioner, Collector, Chief Minister or Prime Minister.” Anyone who delivered blockbusters was a Superstar. But for us, it is as Chiyaan Vikram said, “Oru Suriyan. Oru Chandran. Oru Superstar.” And that will not change. Whether he enters politics or not, whether he is in Himalayas or in Poes Garden, whether he acts in films or not. Afterall, he is and will always be Thalaivar for a reason.

Anushka Sharma, Virat Kohli wedding: How they managed to keep it a secret for a year

Join our :- Telegram Channal Latest News

Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli got married in a private ceremony in Italy on Monday. It was in the works for a year so how did Virushka manage to keep it a secret for so long?

Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli wedding is the event of the year and nothing proved it like the social media frenzy on Monday evening. As news trickled in that the two will release a statement and photos post their nuptials in a glittering ceremony in Tuscany, Italy, the fans – to use a cliché – just could not keep calm.

There were tweets every second as fans beseeched the couple to end their agony and share Virushka – a combination of Virat and Anushka – photos. The two were soon top trends on social media and when the photos finally came, you could almost hear a collective cheer from the virtual world.
A wedding between a cricketer and a Bollywood star is always a big deal but Virat and Anushka are two individuals at the top of their careers and have a long innings ahead of them. But what really made this a national event – like it or not but it is one – was thanks to its shock value. Nobody expected a wedding right now but as people were wondering will-they-won’t-they, the cricketer and actor turned the conversation to ‘when will they’.
While the wedding was fixed almost a year ago, frantic preparations have been going on for weeks without anyone being the wiser. As wedding planners Shaadi Squad confessed, what we saw in Italy on Monday was the result of weeks of hush-hush prep. They said, “Four months of keeping a secret, hiding even from our own team, the secret recces, midnight meetings, vague conversations, and sleepless nights have finally manifested into this grand moment.

Thank you Anuskha and Virat, for making us part of your family and trusting us to pull off something of this magnitude. You believed in us, even on those sleepless nights that we didn’t! “

Virushka wedding fixed in Sri Lanka
According to an India Today report, the two families met and discussed the wedding in Sri Lanka while Virat and Anushka kept the world busy by releasing photos of them gardening. The family priest announced December was the right time and preparations began from their on.
The couple, however, made sure that they were guarded when they spoke about each other. While Anushka maintained a stoic silence, breaking it only to say that she wants focus on her work and not her personal life, Virat’s adorable posts about his would-be wife kept media busy.

It was Virat-- among the world’s highest-paid athletes and a huge star in the cricket-mad nation – requesting a break from his duties as a captain in December that started the rumours. However, well-placed sources dismissed it and said he wants a break because he needs rest.
As Virat pulled out of India’s limited-overs matches against Sri Lanka, Anushka also ducked out of her busy acting schedule in December. As Anushka was seen leaving India with her parents and priest in tow on Thursday, Virat took an evening flight for Italy from Delhi. Select friends and family followed suit.
The wedding was but a few days away and the media had finally caught on. It was at this time that Anushka’s rep decided to muddy the water by saying no wedding was on the cards and she was not in the know.

Anushka Sharma’s denial through rep
On the day of the wedding – December 11 – Yash Raj Films revealed the wedding has indeed taken place and that they misdirected the media because the couple wanted a ‘private affair’. “We are very happy to announce that Ms. Anushka Sharma and Mr. Virat Kohli got married at a private ceremony in Italy, today. The wedding was attended by close family and a few friends as they wished their wedding to be a very private affair. The wedding was performed as per Hindu rituals.

Top fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee has designed the wedding ensemble for both the bride and the groom. Virat and Anushka will now start inviting all industry friends and colleagues for the celebrations that are set to happen in Mumbai,” they said in the statement.

The couple itself posted on social media, “Today we have promised each other to be bound in love forever. We are truly blessed to share the news with you.”

However, the cloak of secrecy didn’t deter Virat and Anushka who put up a spectacular show in Italy. Their wedding took place at a super-exclusive resort in Italy.

Virat and Anushka’s clothes
“We designed the clothes for both bride and groom for all the functions. From engagement to mehendi and sangeet, for the wedding and post-wedding dinner,” designer Sabyasachi said in a statement. For her wedding, Anushka wore a pale pink lehenga with Renaissance embroidery in vintage English colours embellished with silver-gold metal thread, pearls and beads. The groom looked smart in an ivory raw silk sherwani hand-embroidered in a vintage Benarasi pattern, with an old rose silk kota safa.

Cuisine at the Virushka wedding
Chef Ritu Dalmia was in charge of the catering and served a mix of Indian and Italian delicacies. From porcini mushrooms wrapped in bikaneri roti to stuffed ravioli with paneer kurchan, the menu at Virat and Anushka’s wedding was tailor-made. The spread was extensive south Indian, with Indian desserts like rabdi, etc.

The couple will travel to South Africa where Virat will start prepping for the upcoming series and Anushka will spend New Year’s Eve with him and return in the first week of January to begin the next schedule of Anand L Rai’s film with Shah Rukh Khan in Mumbai. She will also promote her production, Pari, which releases on February 9.

The couple will shift to their new residence in Worli, Mumbai in December once they return from Delhi. But first, they have to prepare for the upcoming reception and this time, media will be parked right outside.

Airtel’s Rs 349, Rs 549 recharge offers now give 2GB, 3GB daily data: Comparison with Reliance Jio

Join our :- Telegram Channal Latest News

Airtel's Rs 349 plan offers a total of 56GB data at 2GB per day for 28 days. In comparison, users will get a total of 84GB data, if they recharge with s 549 pack.

Airtel has revised its Rs 349 plan for prepaid users, to offer 2GB data per day. Meanwhile, Airtel’s Rs 549 prepaid plan gives users 3GB data per day. Both the recharge packs come with unlimited local plus STD call benefits along with unlimited roaming incoming, outgoing calls as well as unlimited local and national SMS. Validity for both the plans is 28 days.

To give a perspective, Airtel’s Rs 349 plan offers a total of 56GB data at 2GB per day for 28 days. In comparison, users will get a total of 84GB data, if they recharge with s 549 pack.

Airtel’s Rs 349 recharge pack is one of the bestselling plans for the company, and it originally put FUP (Fair Usage Policy) of 1GB per day. The plan was earlier revamped to offer 1.5GB data per day. Now the plan gives users 2GB data per day. Company’s Rs 549 prepaid recharge voucher, on the other hand, offered users 2.5GB data per day previously.

If we look at Reliance Jio prepaid tariff, a few of these plans offer more data for a longer validity period for much lower price. However, the FUP for most of these plans is set to 1GB per day. For example, recharging with Rs 309 will give users a total of 49GB data at 1GB per day. Of course, validity is 49 days.

Reliance Jio has Rs 399, Rs 459, and Rs 499 plans as well. These give users 70GB, 84GB, and 91GB data respectively for 70 days, 84 days and 91 days respectively.  FUP for each of these recharge vouchers is 1GB. Notably, local, STD, roaming voice calls as well as SMS and access to Jio’s suite of app is free on company’s network.

To get 2GB and 3GB daily data on Jio’s network, users will have to recharge with Rs 509 and Rs 799 respectively. Reliance Jio’s Rs 509 plan offers a total of 98GB data at 2GB per day for 49 days. The Rs 799 recharge voucher offers a total of 84GB data for 28 days. FUP is 3GB per day.

Clearly, Airtel’s Rs 549 pack is a better deal for heavy data users as it gives the same amount of data for the same validity as Jio’s Rs 799 plan, but at a much lower price of Rs 549. Interestingly, Airtel too has a Rs 799 recharge offer that gives 3.5GB data per day for 28 days.

Padmavati Row: Kangana Ranaut To Salman Khan, What Celebs Have Said

With multiple death threats issued against Padmavati actress Deepika Padukone and director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the film fraternity stands united and asks, 'Will violence give an answer?'

Padmavati protests refuses to die down even after repeated criticism by the film fraternity, which believes that resorting to violence and banning a film is not the solution to resolve an issue in a democratic country.

Rajput outfits (one of which is called Karni Sena) claim that Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film distorts historical facts, which demean Rani Padmini. Mr Bhansali was slapped and manhandled by Karni Sena goons while he was filming in Jaipur and now they have extended to death threats for the director and the film's lead actress Deepika Padukone.

The Karni Sena has already threatened to cut off her nose and a BJP leader has put a price on her head. Celebrities like Kangana Ranaut, Farhan Akhtar, Swara Bhaskar recently condemned the threats issued against team Padmavati.

Here's a round-up of celebrities' reaction to the threats issued against director Bhansali and Deepika Padukone:

Kangana Ranaut: "You want to attack an individual or chauvinism, patriarchy or our orthodox thinking? We should attack these things... We have to attack the mindset, and we will do that and we are doing it whether it is through our work, speech or our films. Whatever is happening around us, we all need to stick together

Whether individually or together if we can do (anything) to support our colleagues, we should. Our full support is with our colleagues."

Farhan Akhtar: "Banning a film is the answer that any kind of civilized, democratic society should let happen. I feel that unfortunately the audience does not give itself credit and realise the power they have to not go and watch the film. I think it's unfair to impress your view of not wanting to watch a film on somebody else... an especially through the means of violence. People have been making threats on national television and very little action has been taken against it. It's not a very healthy sign."

Swara Bhaskar: "It's a case of a controversy which has been constructed and allowed to fester to take this really bizarre dimension. We are reaching a point where the reactions - forget about the film - coming out the leaders, political parties and even the courts is telling where we are headed as a polity and a country. How is it that leaders of the political parties are announcing bounties and threatening murders on news channels?

It is the right of an artiste and a director to take creative liberty on the subject they are making. You can discuss it, you can debate it - I'm okay with people within their democratic space in a non-violent, lawful way protesting."

Richa Chadha: It's a shame for democracy because on the one hand they are talking about upholding a woman's honour while on the other they want to dishounour a woman by beheading her or chopping off her nose. This is not something which should be encouraged. There are peaceful ways to protest. If you have a problem with a film or its content, so you should go to the court and the CBFC is the final authority in certifying a film. Violent threats are very unbecoming of a democracy and doesn't reflect well on our culture.

Hrithik Roshan: "It is a clear indication of our level of evolution. We are still evolving as a society and as individuals. It is a reflection of the fact that we still have a long way to go to evolve into beings, that bereft of these problems and issues of assumptions and attacks. It is not right"

Salman Khan: "I don't think it is fair to hurt anyone's sentiments. It is also not fair to comment on a film without seeing it."

Juhi Chawla: "At the end of the day, films are made by directors, by the team (and) you're playing a part. Just for that reason, I'd say a little sensitivity is (needed) and people should have patience. Not flare up and say things like that, that too to a woman."

Sonakshi Sinha: "Whatever is happening is not right and it shouldn't happen. In our country, if threats are given openly, it is not a correct thing. I think strict action should be taken against it."

Kriti Sanon: "It is very scary to be part of the industry and see something like that is happening. Acting is our job, we are portraying characters which is our job. I will be scared to portray a character in the future where it might offend someone, publicly someone can give me death threat. I think it is something that media also should not be showing so much. If any one goes out there and says that 'I give reward on so and so thing', I don't think media should show it. It is not something to be shown or to be spread. It needs to be taken care of from every end."

Varun Dhawan: "Protesting peacefully is fine. It is a democracy and everyone should be allowed to voice their opinion and we should totally respect that. But making a (death) threat should not be allowed in a democracy. And I believe in our judiciary, I am sure they will manage it."

Yami Gautam: "It is unacceptable. The way it is going it is really unacceptable. It is shocking, the way it is going. I really hope it comes to some solution and really fast. Because a film is made with lot of hard work. I am sure there are some concerns (of certain people) but it should be watched first and then an opinion should be passed."

Kamal Haasan: "I want Ms Deepika's head saved. Respect it more than her body, even more her freedom. Do not deny her that. Many communities have opposed my films. Extremism in any debate is deplorable. Wake up cerebral India. Time to think. We've said enough. Listen Ma Bharat".

Rishi Kapoor: "I feel that (the release of) films in this democracy should not be curbed. My only relevant point which I totally agree with the filmmakers is that please see his film and then pass a comment. Without seeing the film, how can you agitate?"

Nana Patekar: "The film is yet to be released and no one knows what is there in the film. I condemn the threats issued against Sanjay and Deepika."

Rajkummar Rao: "We should not have preconceived notions about any film before seeing it. We have a government certified body - the CBFC - which is responsible for passing the film."

Team Padmavati's woes were doubled last month when weeks before the film's release, Prasoon Joshi-led Central Board of Film Certification refused to review the film on account of "incomplete paperwork." Some Bollywood personalities found this fishy and said:

Shabana Azmi: "CBFC sends film back bcoz some paper formalities not complete!!! Only after 63 days, will the film be screened for CBFC when the Gujarat election is over and done with. Are we fools to not see through the design of fomenting unrest and polarising votes? I am very angry"

Shyam Benegal: "I must say the CBFC is behaving very strangely in the matter of Padmavati. If the film didn't carry a disclaimer it could easily be corrected. Why send the film back?

Pahlaj Nihalani: "To how many committees is Bhansali answerable? And where does this end? Why is one of India's best filmmakers being made to explain himself over and over again? And why is the CBFC not taking steps to clear the air once and for all."

Padmavati is reportedly based on the legend of Rani Padmini, who performed jauhar to evade capture by Alaudin Khilji, who has conquered the fort of Chittor. Ranveer Singh plays Khilji while Shahid plays the role of Maharawal Ratan Singh, Rani Padmini's husband. The release of Padmavati has postponed indefinitely pending Censor Board clearance but sources believe that the makers are now aiming for an early 2018 release.
