Congress is definitely making some inroads into the BJP bastion in Gujarat but the state poll due shortly will be far from being a cliffhanger as the TV9/CVoter poll predicts. Ahead of the Gujarat Assembly election, the study finds that the BJP will likely lose six seats and the Congress will likely gain 12 seats bringing their tally to 109 and 73 seats in the 182-seat Assembly respectively.

The poll, dividing Gujarat by region, predicted that the BJP will nab 36 seats in Central, 13 seats in North, 43 seats in Saurashtra and 17 seats in South.

The Congress is predicted to win 27 seats in Central, 19 seats in North, 11 seats in Saurashtra and 16 seats in South.

Other parties are predicted to win zero seats. The Congress is predicted to gain five seats in Central, two seats in the North, 10 seats in the South but lose five seats in Saurashtra. The BJP is predicted to lose three seats in Central, two seats in North, nine seats in the South but pick up eight seats in Saurashtra.

In 2012 election, the BJP won 115 seats and the Congress netted 61 seats in the state. Other parties netted six seats in the state.
Here's the seat share as predicted by the survey.

The opinion poll found that the Congress could get as much as 41.7 percent of the vote share across the state, however, the BJP will still be in the lead with a slim margin at 46.5 percent, despite the much-touted Patidar wave in certain pockets. The survey also showed that while the Congress vote share has gone up by roughly 2.9 percentage points, the BJP's share of votes has come down by 1.3 percentage points.
The share of Others remained more or less the same.

According to the survey, the Congress party could get the largest lead in South Gujarat where it vote share has improved by 7.5 percentage points as compared to 2012 results.
The party however, could not make much impact in Saurashtra, where it's vote share shows a growth of just 0.1 percentage points.
However, unlike its rival BJP, the Congress does not suffer a decline in its vote share anywhere in Gujarat.

The BJP on the other hand has slipped by 1.3 percentage points as compared to 2012. The only region where it manages to retain its lead in vote share is the Saurashtra region, while it slipped  by eight percentage points—the largest decline—in South Gujarat, which has a sizeable presence of Muslims, Patidars and small traders, who were worst-hit by demonetisation and GST.

On Tuesday, an opinion poll conducted by Lokniti-CSDS-aapkasamachar  predictedthat BJP is likely to win 91-99 seats while the Congress will bag 78-86 seats.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi likened the imminent elevation of Rahul Gandhi to dynastic succession of Mughal rulers, and castigated the Congress for abandoning "public modesty" by deciding to make a person, who is out on bail in a graft case, its presiden
The prime minister also targeted the Congress over corruption during its rule and spoke about the clean governance under him in Gujarat and at the Centre.
Modi said with the Congress deciding to make such a leader its president gave a glimpse of what culture the party will follow and the kind of leadership will emerge there in future.

Indian bonds gain on RBI's more balanced tone on inflation, liquidity

India's 10-year bonds gained today after the RBI stuck to a more balanced tone on inflation and market liquidity, in a relief to investors who had braced for more hawkish comments

Mumbai: India's benchmark 10-year bonds gained on Wednesday after the central bank stuck to a more balanced tone on inflation and market liquidity, in a relief to investors who had braced for more hawkish comments.

The Reserve Bank of India kept its policy rate steady at 6% as widely expected, but slightly softened its language on inflation by saying risks were "evenly balanced."

Bond investors were further relieved after RBI deputy governor Viral Acharya said he expected "slightly surplus" liquidity by March, reducing some of their concerns that the central bank would continue with aggressive open market debt sales to drain out cash from the financial system.

"Market is relieved that the RBI did not raise its anti-inflation rhetoric," said Anindya Das Gupta, managing director and head of trading at Barclays India.
"Market was fearful of a slightly more hawkish tone," he added. "So in a sense there is no fresh bad news which is a bit of a relief."

The benchmark 10-year bond yield ended at 7.03%, compared with around 7.07% right before the RBI decision came in. The yield had closed at 7.06% on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the broader NSE index dropped 0.7% and the rupee weakened to 64.51 to the dollar from 64.38 on Tuesday.
The positive end in bond markets comes after a recent sell-off sent the 10-year bond yield up by more than 60 bps since the RBI last cut the repo rate by 25 bps in early August.

Bond markets have pummelled as an acceleration in inflation has sharply reduced the prospect of rate cuts, while worries mount that the government would borrow more from debt markets as it struggles to meet its annual fiscal deficit target.

The RBI also contributed to the sell-off by selling Rs90,000 crore ($13.95 billion) via open market operations since July to drain out excess cash accumulated after India's shock move to ban higher-value bills late last year as well as the central bank's foreign exchange market interventions.

In a disturbing incident, a Class 5 student in Ghaziabad has been accused of raping a Class 2 student.
The incident happened a month ago, but the girl's parents hadn't initially realized why she was suffering from pain.
They lodged a complaint on December 3

☞ The accused inserted "wooden twigs" inside her vagina

According to the victim's father, the incident happened on November 8. Students had been allowed to leave early due to smog.
Some, including the accused and the victim, were waiting for their parents. He followed when she went to the washroom and assaulted her, inserting a "wooden twig" inside her private parts and slapping her.
Though she told a teacher, no action was taken.

☞ Police and school have launched probes

The parents lodged a police complaint on December 3. The next day, they visited the school, where the girl identified the accused.
"The boy confessed to having slapped my daughter," her father said.
Police have conducted a medical examination and lodged an FIR under Section 376, which specifies rape. They are trying to ascertain what happened.
Meanwhile, the school has launched its own investigation.

☞ How do children commit such horrific crimes?

Often, minor perpetrators don't realize the harm they are inflicting, experts say. In this case, preliminary reports had revealed the incident happened "when the kids were playing pranks with each other"
Moreover, children often learn such behavior by imitating what they observe on TV or from adults.
Elders need to explain the difference between good touch and bad touch.

WhatsApp’s ‘Restricted Groups’ feature may allow group admins to silence members

WhatsApp is testing a new 'Restricted Groups' feature which will give the group administrator more powers.

WhatsApp is testing a new ‘Restricted Groups’ feature which will give the group administrator more powers. According to a report from WABetaInfo, the messaging platform has submitted the “Restricted Groups” setting via Google Play Beta programme in the version 2.17.430.

Essentially, the new feature promises to give the administrator more power in a group chat. The report said that the administrator is free to restrict a member from sending text messages, photographs, GIFs, or voice messages. Once restricted, you can use the ‘Message Admin’ button to send a message to the group.  You will be able to send message to the administrator of the group, who will ultimately decide whether it will be seen by other members of the group – or rejected completely.

The Restricted group feature can be enabled by anyone with an administrator authority within the group chat. The settings can be changed every 72 hours, meaning group members can be silenced for a few hours at a time.

WABetaInfo, which tracks upcoming WhatsApp features wrote: “WhatsApp will prevent the group creator to be deleted from the group by other administrators. This will help the group creator to have the full control of the group.· The administrators will be able to choose if other participants can modify the subject of the group, its icon and its description.”

The feature is currently supported by Android and iOS beta, but WhatsApp has disabled it on its servers. At the moment, WhatsApp group administrator has the authority to add new members to the group. Members are free to post anything in the group.

Amitabh Bachchan pens poignant tribute to Shashi Kapoor

Join our :- Telegram Channal Latest News

In his blog, Amitabh Bachchan described a picture of Shashi Kapoor on a film magazine cover just before his Bollywood debut, and admitted that looking at the "terribly handsome" man, he thought he stood no chance in the industry.

Iconic is the only word that comes to the mind when one thinks about Yash Chopra’s Deewar and its scene between two of India’s greatest acting stars – Amitabh Bachchanand Shashi Kapoor – where they wage a war of words and emotions with each other. But even as the they played two siblings turned against one another, the audience could only notice the ease, the comfort and a natural chemistry between the actors on screen.

Luckily, that camaraderie made its way on the big screen repeatedly throughout the 1970s-80s – Suhaag, Trishul, Kabhi Kabhie, Namak Halal – to name a few. But not many, particularly the current generation, knew a lot about the real life friendship, that how even long after Kapoor bid adieu to the arclights, the warmth between the two actors lived and grew.

So, as Kapoor breathed his last on Monday evening, it was natural of Amitabh Bachchan, four years younger than his frequent co-star, to reach his residence at the earliest and spend hours with the family. And it was after some time with the Kapoor family that Amitabh sat down to pen a moving tribute to the actor.

The megastar begins his post (on his blog) by describing a picture of Kapoor on a film magazine cover just before his Bollywood debut, and admitting that looking at the “terribly handsome” man, Amitabh Bachchan thought he stood no chance in the industry.

“Standing elegantly without a care in the world, I saw him standing by a Mercedes Sports car, a convertible, a smart trimmed beard and moustache, adorning involuntarily, the face of this incredibly handsome man.

It was a picture that filled almost an entire page of a magazine. Shashi Kapoor … son of Prithviraj Kapoor, younger brother to Raj Kapoor and Shammi Kapoor, making a debut in a forthcoming film, is what the caption read .. And I said to myself, as very uncertain thoughts raced through my mind of wanting to become a film actor, that, with men like him around, I stood no chance at all…,” the post begins.

He, then, goes on to describe his meeting with Kapoor and the biggest takeaway from that meet – always introduce yourself. Amitabh Bachchan says while people find this quality impressive in him but he can’t take credit for it as he imbibed it from the veteran star.

“1969, and those early years of efforts to join the Industry were also the times when there was a close proximity, to the area of an atmosphere, that swivelled around this most attractive man. On and off, common friends in the Industry, which I was just getting acquainted with, would introduce me to him at select social gatherings.

‘Shashi Kapoor!’ was what one heard as he extended a warm soft hand out to you in introduction; that devastating smile complimenting the twinkle in his eyes. He needn’t have done so. Every one knew him. But this was his infectious humble self.

When he spoke, there was a mischievous, gentle, almost inaudible, delicate, yodel, in his voice – most endearing and comforting to the one he was introduced to. The self introduction habit was a gem.

The one being introduced to, was, quite obviously, prompted to say his or her name as well, when they heard his. It was a remarkable tool to come to know the other persons name .. and .. if and when there was to be another meeting after many forgettable years, the same technology was most helpful in remembering the other persons name, in case you had forgotten it..!!” Big B writes.

In an endearing portion from the post, the actor shares that he went for a haircut – that involved the hair covering his ears – only after taking inspiration from Shashi Kapoor, whose hairstyle was emulated by men around the country.

The next .. was his semi curly hair on head, falling carelessly over his forehead and ears, not quite covering it .. and my upper story mumbled again : ‘hey ! maybe you should think of covering your ears as well ..’ and off I went to Hakim the hair dresser at Taj Hotel with my plan .. and executed, it remained till date.”

Soon, the two actors became co-stars, then friends and their equation later resulted in a family relation, as Amitabh Bachchan’s daughter Shweta got married to businessman Nikhil Nanda, who is the maternal grandson of late Raj Kapoor, brother of Shashi Kapoor. Sharing about the growth of their bond, Bachchan writes, “What followed .. is a documentation of very intimate association, personal exigencies .. collective professional camaraderie .. ending in family bindings…”

The most emotional bit comes towards the end where Amitabh Bachchan talks about Kapoor’s failing health after the demise of his wife Jennifer in 1984.

“He had been ailing… Somewhere he had let himself go after the passing away of his dear wife Jennifer .. I had visited him on occasion in Hospital during some of the times he had been hospitalised earlier .. but I never went to see him again .. I would never have .. I never ever wanted to see this beautiful friend and ‘samdhi’ in the state I saw him in hospital… and I did not today, when they informed me that he had gone,” Bachchan writes.

Closing the tribute, the actor shares with the fans that Shashi Kapoor used to fondly address him as ‘Babbua’. “He fondly addressed me as ‘babbua’ .. and with him have gone many incredible unread chapters of his and my life…,” the post concludes.

Shashi Kapoor died aged 79 after suffering from kidney problems. His funeral will be held today afternoon.
