Sridevi passes away at 54 after a cardiac arrest in Dubai

Having a career which expanded for over four decades, Bollywood's Veteran actress Sridevi passed away at the age of 54.

The actor, wife of producer Boney Kapoor, died late in the night reportedly due to cardiac arrest in Dubai, where she had gone along with her family to attend her nephew Mohit Marwah's wedding.

Confirming the news of her death, Sridevi's brother-in-law and actor Sanjay Kapoor, told IANS: "Yes, it is true."
Sanjay, however, could not reveal more details as he was on his way to Dubai.

While some of her family members returned from Dubai after the wedding, Sridevi, Boney and her younger daughter Khushi stayed back. Her elder daughter -- Janhvi -- had not travelled with the family because of the shooting schedule for her upcoming Bollywood film, her first in the industry.

Sridevi, known for her versatility as an actor, made her Bollywood debut in 1978 with "Solva Sawan". But it was only after five years with Jeetendra-starrer "Himmatwala" that she gained commercial success.

Before her entry into Bollywood, the actor had been a known face in South Indian films. She made her debut as a child artist in in Tamil film "Thunaivan" in 1969. She also worked in Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada films.

Sridevi was awarded the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian honour, in 2013.

Sridevi's beguiling eyes, scintillating screen presence and acting prowess soon made her one of the most sought-after actors in the Hindi film industry. While films like "Mawaali" (1983), "Tohfa" (1984), "Mr India" (1987) and "Chandni" (1989) kept her at the top in the box-office game, her outings like "Sadma" (1983), "ChaalBaaz" (1989), "Lamhe" (1991), and "Gumrah" (1993) earned her critical acclaim.

She went on a hiatus for 15 years after starring in home production "Judaai", co-starring her brother-in-law Anil Kapoor and Urmila Matondkar. It was director Gauri Shinde's "English Vinglish" in 2012 that marked Sridevi's comeback.

Her nuanced performance as a middle-class woman, learning to speak English to feel accepted by her family, won accolades, and the film was also a commercial success. Last year, she was seen in revenge-drama, "Mom", opposite Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Akshaye Khanna. She also shot for a special appearance in superstar Shah Rukh Khan's upcoming film, "Zero", which releases in December.

Jignesh Mevani fears for safety after Whatsapp chat of senior cops goes viral

Vadgam MLA and Dalit activist Jignesh Mevani has raised questions on his safety and security after a discussion on a Whatsapp group called ‘ADR Police & Media’, which has members from the media and senior police people, went viral on Friday. In the whatsapp group, two videos — one in which a group of policemen are seen beating up a person dressed up like a politician and the other in which UP CM Yogi Adityanath in an interview, is answering questions around encounters done by the UP police– were uploaded after which a message by the DySP of Ahmedabad rural appeared.

“Those who want to be the baap of police and call the police as ‘lakhota’ (marbles) and those who take videos of police should remember that with people like you, the police will be like this. Scores will be settled. ‘ Gujarat Police’,” reads the message.

This message is followed by a thumbs up emoji by the SP of Ahmedabad rural. “I just copy pasted the messages that were forwarded in another group. It has been wrongly interpreted. It was not a personal message and neither is it a threat. It was just shared from one group to the other,” said RB Devdha, DySP of Ahmedabad rural.

Reacting to viral whatsapp conversation Jignesh Mevani tweeted, “Jignesh Mevani’s encounter? Here is the link to a web portal which exposes a Whatsapp communication where two top cops are discussing how I could be killed in an encounter. Can you believe this?” .

In a telephonic conversation with an The Indian Express reporter, Mevani said,“This is a serious matter. Two top police people are indicating that I can be killed in an encounter. I am going to file a complaint to the DGP, the home minister and home secretary.”

On February 18, a video went viral in which Mevani is seen arguing with the police as he was detained just before he was to start Ahmedabad bandh. The bandh was called in protest of the death of Dalit activist Bhanu Vankar. In the video, Mevani is seen saying “tara baap ni jagi chey,” (Is it your fathers property) and ‘Lakhota’ to the plain clothed policemen who are trying to detain him.

Priya Prakash named MS Dhoni as her favourite cricketer

2Priya Prakash became an overnight sensation with her wink

3Dhoni is currently in South Africa with the Indian cricket team

Priya Prakash Varrier pretty much broke the Internet with just a wink and there seems to be no stopping her ever-rising popularity in the country. As Indian men swoon over her girl-next-door charm, the Malayalam actor has revealed that she is a fan of none other than former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Priya turned into an overnight sensation when a teaser clip of the movie Oru Adaar Love was shared on social media, sending the entire country into a meltdown. The video was viewed over 25 million times on YouTube in just one week and over 10 million times on Priya's own recently verified Instagram account.

In an interview to India TV, Priya was asked about her favourite cricketer, "Dhoni is my favourite cricketer," she replied.
Dhoni is currently in South Africa on national duty with the Indian cricket team.
The pandemonium surrounding the 'viral wink' was so much so that the record superstar footballer Cristiano Ronaldo came under threat. The 18-year-old garnered over 600k followers on Instagram in just 24 hours, making her only the third personality to do so.
The top two celebrities holding the positions are reality star, Kylie Jenner with 806k followers in 24 hours and Real Madrid and Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo with 650k followers in a day.

In an interview with aapkasamachar Priya had admitted the wink was actually spontaneous.
"Actually, the director wanted to capture something cute between me and my hero. So he told me if I can do the eyebrow thing and wink at him. I told him that I could give it a try. That's how it worked out. It was spontaneous and we hadn't planned anything."

"I never thought this would become such a sensation. Everybody told me that it was good. But I never expected it to become a big hit," she added.

WhatsApp 'Delete for Everyone' Rendered Ineffective if Your Message Is Quoted

If someone has quoted your message on WhatsApp before you delete it, you will still be able to see that message - rendering the 'Delete for Everyone' feature ineffective.

Last year, WhatsApp rolled out this feature to allow its over one billion user base to revoke messages in case they sent those to a wrong person or a group. Users can only delete messages for everyone for up to seven minutes after sending.

The Next Web notes that quoted messages in chats continued to show in quotes even after they were wiped. It said that this is not a bug and is a part of the feature.

If a user sends a message and deletes it from a group or individual chat within seven minutes, the message will disappear.

However, if within these seven minutes, that message is quoted then the original message will successfully disappear but the deleted text continues to show in the recipient's quote.

Interestingly, there is no mention of how the feature works in cases of quotes in the WhatsApp's FAQ.

This comes following the reports in which researchers claimed to discover other shortcomings in WhatsApp's implementation of deleted messages.

In one particular flaw - discovered by Spanish tech blog AndroidJefe - it was possible to recover deleted messages from the Android notification history.

"Relying on third-party apps, users could browse the notification log to read purged texts," the report said.

The Independent later pointed out that this approach could only recover deleted messages that were read or interacted with.
