Baaghi 2 star Tiger Shroff has carved out a niche in Bollywood as the go-to guy for action, dance movies

All News For Aapkasamachar -"Click Here"

It is now common knowledge that the day Tiger Shroff was born, filmmaker Subhash Ghai had given a signing amount of Rs 21,000 to Jackie Shroff for Tiger’s debut film. It is a different matter that Tiger made his debut under a different production house but 28 years later, it can safely be said that Subhash Ghai was precise in his observation and must have had a premonition of Tiger becoming a future star.

In a span of just four years, he has carved out a space that is now successfully owned by him and might just be difficult for other stars of the current generation to penetrate. In a nutshell, he has owned the two most sought-after genres of Bollywood — dance and action — and has triumphantly demarcated his territory.

In the history of Indian cinema, that spans across more than 100 years, Tiger could be the first instance when an actor holds equal command over both the action and dance genre. It was only after the advent of Govinda that filmmakers realised that dance in cinema too could be a potent tool to lure audiences. While action in cinema has been there since time immemorial, there was nothing death-defying or heart-pulsating which could excite the audiences.

For a long time, action in Hindi cinema was synonymous with mass explosion at villain’s den and a few acrobatic movements with the help of safety wires. So while stars like Govinda, Mithun Chakraborty, Hrithik Roshan and Shahid Kapoor could entice audiences with their gyrations, Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra and Sunny Deol managed to grab audiences’ eyeballs through their technique of beating the goons – none of which could pass the standards defined by superior Hollywood films. A semblance of amalgamation of both was witnessed with the arrival of Hrithik Roshan but the disparity between his dancing skills and action skills remains large. It was only with the advent of Tiger Shroff on the scene that both the genres got a certain amount of respectability, something that Indian audiences had been craving for long, especially those who were brought up on the fodder of western flicks.

In a span of four years, Tiger has four films under his belt and they all had action and dance at the core. Though none of his films managed to gain favorable star ratings from the critics’ community for his acting prowess, this never stopped people from flocking to cinema halls to witness his daring stunts and rhythmic movements. Out of the four films, barring the abject failure of A Flying Jatt and Munna Michael, the rest succeeded in hitting the bull’s eye at the box office. His histrionics at best could be dubbed as average, but through the sheer power of his dance and action skills, he has successfully managed to whitewash his shortcomings and build an identity of his own. This remains one territory which even the current superstars viz Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor and Varun Dhawan will find it extremely difficult to penetrate.

In other words, Tiger has successfully created a scenario where he has made himself indispensable for producers toying with the idea of making such films. It also says of his focused future goals and his awareness of his shortcomings and talents. “As far as I know of the industry, there is too much of competition and the new lot has come extremely prepared. Thinking about that, I always used to think about what makes me different and what are my plus points and how can I stand apart in a crowd,” is what Tiger had remarked during a press interaction while promoting Baaghi in 2016. Time and again, he keeps reminding scribes that he has gotten more than he deserves and is thankful that people notice him in some way or the other.

The reference is surely to his acting caliber and not to other skills. It only proves that behind the well-mannered down-to-earth approach, there also lies a well-carved and designed strategy.

The actor, who fiercely guards his privacy and is rumoured to have trained Aamir Khan for Dhoom 3 action sequences, is himself a qualified martial artist. He made sure he mastered everything related to action for his debut film which included wall flips, leaps, front pike and 360-degree backward twist. The pre-production of Heropanti also included his training under the watchful eyes of a national level gymnast. With the passage of time, he has only worked and devoted time in honing his action and dancing skills.

The surge in the level of action with each release only proves his determination of owning the genre. It is interesting to note here that the star devotes ample time to hone his skill sets but the same cannot be said about his acting talent. It seems that he is aware of the fact that limited performance is acceptable in Bollywood.

His upcoming selection of films also gives a peep and a rough idea about where exactly is Tiger headed. Needless to say his film with Hrithik Roshan for the Yash Raj Films banner will only aim to ensure that it becomes a benchmark film in the dance action genre. Rambo will only seal his established image further while the sequel to Student of The Year will only serve him a break and give him an opportunity to do what he prefers doing best in his spare time – shake a leg. Needless to say, it is all a calculative move to stamp and seal further an image that has already found acceptance with cine-goers and leave little for competition.

The fact that a major chunk of the actor’s interaction with the press is devoured by his own inputs on the action technique and dancing skills in his films, is also telling. Questions related to his performances are negligible and media too has come to term with the fact that here is an actor whose dancing and action skills supersede his acting caliber. And this also makes Tiger a cut above the rest. His intentions look very similar to what we witnessed decades back when Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jean-Claude Van Damme, despite their limited acting talent, became superstars based solely on their action caliber. Tiger’s entry into the film industry is not by chance but more by design and we are not complaining.

Baaghi 2 stars Tiger Shroff, Disha Patani, Manoj Bajpayee, Darshan Kumar, Deepak Dobriyal, Prateik Babbar and Randeep Hooda. It is co-produced by Fox Star Studios Hindi and Sajid Nadiadwala's Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment. It is slated to release this Friday on 30 March.

Sridevi was a genuine 24 karat star in films that couldn't match her wattage
Shubhra Gupta writes, 'With the passing of Sridevi, we have lost not just a great star. We have lost the part of our innocence which effortlessly conjured up magic cloaks and invisible superheroes: the spell was cast by Miss Hawa Hawaaii who spun and pirouetted and ‘giraoed bijli’, and created a happy symphony for all times. When Shekhar Kapoor’s Mr India came out in 1987, and gave us the immortal Miss Hawa Hawaaii, Sridevi was already in need of a makeover.'

Mumbai: Veteran actor Sridevi's funeral is expected in Mumbai today in a few hours, after her body is flown back from Dubai, where she died on the weekend. Since this morning, film stars, celebrities and fans have been seen at the home of Anil Kapoor, Sridevi's brother-in-law and former co-star.

Sridevi, 54, died suddenly on Saturday night of a cardiac arrest, leaving Bollywood in deep shock and millions of fans heartbroken. She collapsed in her hotel room in Dubai, where she had gone with husband Boney Kapoor and daughter Khushi for a family wedding.

The Khaleej Times quoted family sourcesto report that Boney Kapoor, waiting to take Sridevi out to dinner, found her motionless in the bathtub of her room at the Jumeirah Emirates Towers. Boney Kapoor, a filmmaker, had returned to Mumbai with their daughter but had flown back to Dubai reportedly to surprise his wife.

A medical team failed to revive her. The family said Sridevi did not have any history of heart ailments.

The family waited all of Sunday but Sridevi's body was not handed over to them as UAE authorities carried out an autopsy. In a statement last evening, the family said the actor's body will arrive in Mumbai today.

According to reports, industrialist Anil Ambani has offered to fly Sridevi's body back in a private jet.

The Indian film fraternity has been shaken by the unexpected tragedy. Hundreds have gathered outside Sridevi's Mumbai home, hoping for a final glimpse.

A stream of stars, former co-stars and others were seen at the house of Anil Kapoor, the younger brother of Boney Kapoor.

Southern superstars Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan have headed to Mumbai to pay their respects to Sridevi.

Since the news of her death, Sridevi's last videos at the wedding of her nephew Mohit Marwah have been widely shared and snapshots of her life and films have been all over the media.

Sridevi began working at the age of four and, in a career spanning five decades, acted in 300 films.
The gorgeous actor, often described as India's one and only female superstar and the queen of the 1990s, was best known for her roles in "Sadma", "Lamhe" "Mr India", "Chandni" and "Himmatwala". A versatile actor known for her impeccable comic timing, she reigned over not just Bollywood, but also the Tamil, Telugu and Kannada film industry.

After a 15-year break following her marriage to Boney Kapoor, a much leaner Sridevi made a smashing comeback with the 2012 film "English Vinglish". She followed it up with the thriller "Mom".

Sridevi died before she could see her older daughter Jhanvi's debut in films this year.

According to a recent report on BoxOfficeIndia.com, the film has collected Rs 10.25 crore on Day 8 at the ticket window, taking its overall box-office collection past the 150 crore mark. With the total earnings of Rs 159.5 crore, the film has proved to be a blockbuster and has been liked by both the audience as well as the critics. Even Bollywood celebs took to their respective social media handles to praise the film, with spectacular visuals captured by Bhansali being the highlight of the film.

According to experts, the film's collections could have been higher given that it would have released in all the states of India. Currently, the film can maintain a stronghold at the box-office this week too as there are no major big-budget releases.

Talking about Ranveer-Deepika, Bhansali even revealed that he would continue to work with them. He said, "I love Deepika and the effortlessness which she brings on the set. I even feel that her performances are detailed and nuanced which makes me want to work with her again." Adding to it he even said, "I think Ranveer is aware of his strengths and limitations and hence he knows what to extract from him. Ranveer would achieve much more greatness only if he could become a little effortless too."

Aditi Rao Hydari‏, who played Mehrunissa in 'Padmaavat' has praised Deepika for her role of Padmavati. She tweeted, "A tweet just seems so impersonal but since I haven't managed to get through to you and Ive been away... just to say big respect and huge love for #Padmaavat... to padmavati from mehrunissa! love you @deepikapadukone

Padmaavat movie review: This Deepika Padukone starrer is spectacular

🔊 Join Our Whatsapp Group To Get Latest News

Padmavati movie review: Deepika Padukone has never been lovelier. She wears those stunning costumes, never letting them wear her, even if her waist is decorously covered in the Ghoomar song.

Padmaavat movie cast: Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor, Jim Sarbh, Anupriya Goenka, Raza Murad

Padmaavat movie director: Sanjay Leela Bhansali
Padmaavat movie rating: 2.5 stars

All those agitating over how Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat would trample all over Rajput pride, you may rest easy: the director didn’t need a memo from the Karni Sena and all the other self-styled ‘armies’ on keeping it ‘sanskaari’ – his entire film is a memo from the Karni Sena and all the other self-styled ‘armies’ on keeping it ‘sanskaari’ – his entire film is a relentlessly opulent, magnificently-mounted paean to Rajput ‘aan baan shaan’.
Here’s how it goes, just in case you are one of those rare people who haven’t been breathlessly following the film’s troubles: the Rajput king Ratan Singh (Kapoor) is the hero, the Muslim invader Alauddin Khilji (Singh) is the villain, and the object of their mutual adoration is the utterly gorgeous Padmavati, who will always and forever be a good Indian girl, and later, wife. When we see her first, she is fleet of foot and clear of eye, a joyous free spirit who has a will of her own.She ends up committing ‘jauhar’, her life and death circumscribed by male notions of honour.
If that’s not patriarchy, then I’m Queen Padmavati, who of course did not exist. And while we of course cannot judge the actions of the dramatis personae who presumably lived in the 13th century (even if they were mythical creatures, created by the poet Malik Mohammad Jayasi) by present day gender roles, we do see that the director has a problem on his hands: how do you show a beautiful queen jumping into a pyre, along with hundreds of her compatriots (a shot has a pregnant woman and a little girl), without glorifying the act?
One way of doing it is to stuff the beginning and the middle acts with so much glitter and glamour that we are expected to be swept away. Which we dutifully do: there’s a kind of beauty in the way Bhansali creates his frames, even if your eye begins to be overwhelmed by it.

Deepika Padukone has never been lovelier. She wears those stunning costumes, never letting them wear her, even if her waist is decorously covered in the Ghoomar song (alert viewers may see a flash of the said body part in other parts of the film). Shahid Kapoor sports kohl in his eyes, and clearly articulated muscles in his chest, often left bare. But this film belongs to Ranveer Singh’s Khilji, who bites into mounds of meat (serving well the prototype of the Muslim savage) and his part with such relish that you can taste it.
If it hadn’t been for the extreme reactions from a bunch of extreme reactionaries-cum-buffoons which nearly derailed the release the film, Bhansali’s latest opus would have been just another Bhansali extravganza, full of costumery and puffery. But given that all art is political, even if it is dressed up art, Padmaavat becomes more than it is, because the director chooses to outline the vileness of his antagonist, and underline the ‘pati-vrata ness’ of Rani Padmavati.
Far from any subtle touches, Bhansali’s black-and-white delineation of the good Hindu and the bad Muslim (who could also, gasp, swing both ways) is so stark that that we are left with no illusion about which part of the political firmament he wants to be on the right side of.
Finally, and we can’t get away from this, the question for us while watching this fresh version of the oldest tale in the book – ‘ek tha raja, ek thi rani, dono mar gaye, khatam kahani’—is, how do we deal with the fact of a woman being forced to jump into a pyre to save the ‘honour’ of her husband, and her people?
🏢*Click Here To For All Technology News*🏢
Of course, Padmaavat is spectacular: no one can do spectacle like Bhansali. This was what he was born to do.
You can easily delight in it while the going is good. But nearly three hours of it, and looping rhetoric around what constitutes Rajput valour can and does become tiresome. And that compulsion to make ‘sati’ so good-looking, when the singeing of flesh can be so gruesome, is troubling.
If there’s one thing that keeps us from brooding too much through the film, it is Ranveer Singh. Not once does he try to make us like him, and that makes us like him even more.
As a performer, he has always been unpredictable, in a good way. As Bhansali’s Khilji, he is electric. And try as anyone might, so is the attraction between the outsider and the queen: it is their doomed love story, whose embers rain on the screen, that we take away with us.
