Ordinance-2020 approved by the President
President Ramnath Kovinde has approved the Epidemic Disease Ordinance-2020. Along with this, strict action will be taken against those who attack health workers in the country. The ordinance provides for imprisonment ranging from three months to seven months. The central government has come up with a safety net for health workers after an attack on a health worker treating a corona patient in the country.

Regarding the decision taken at the cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar said that those who attack health workers have been given a strict sentence of six months to seven years.
In addition to the jail sentence, a provision has also been introduced to impose a fine of Rs one lakh to Rs five lakh.
Strict action will be taken against the attacker
If the health workers’ vehicles or clinics are damaged, the accused will be charged twice the market value of the damaged property, the Union Minister announced.
